GRAMADO, Southern Brazil - my modest photos of this beautiful teuto-italian town!

Photos taken during Easter 2009 (beginning of autumn in southern hemisphere). Temperatures swung wildly during the holyday... minimum of 7ºC (friday night), maximum (sunday afternoon) of 27ºC.

location of the municipality of Gramado (the red area does not represents urban area, but municipality limits)

its interesting how on SSC some people love to take a thread of over 50 pics and then find ONE pic to criticize the thread.

well, just to START, I never claimed this was a city of teuto-italian ARCHITECTURE. Its a city of teuto-italian SETTLEMENT.

Hey

Where is your sense of humor? If you want to interpret my post as criticism, then go ahead. Anyway, I already stated that it was nice to see your pictures. I really liked it over there.

Well I think the city is beautiful and absolutely adorable. Funny to "northerners" to think of Easter as a fall holiday...

It doesn't matter, maybe my attempt at humor was a little flawed. However, it wasn't meant in a negative way. Unfortunately, I only stayed there one night. I also visited Blumeneau and Curitiba (Morretes). Great trip.

Good question. I wanted to visit more than one country on your continent. So, I opted for Southern-Brazil, Uruguay, and the utmost northeastern part of Argentina (Buenos Aires). I never regretted my choise, although Rio de Janeiro (where I started my trip) - surprisingly - didn't quite live up to my expectations.

And generally Easter is the holiday we take as a reference to the begining of low temperatures season.....while in North the holiday that marks the begining of the winter is the Halloween, Easter is the reference for us. And in Gramado, man....it's damn cold...it snows there in July. When I went there, it looked like I was in Europe...and some places there people do not speak portuguese. I felt like, "Am I in Brasil?"

Man, you're weird. How can you criticize one of the best photos of this thread. Feel the essence on it. We don't need to show anything. That was a stupid comment.

Brazil has 25 million italians descendents, 18 million German descendents, 1,8 million Polishs, 1,5 million japaneses and offcourse Portugueses, Spanishs, Africans, Indians and a lot of other cultures, Babel is here.

Now, before write something irrelevant, go study a little bit of the continent that Brazil is.
