Haha yep meagain, we all really went off in a random direction to OffTopicLand!
Gaelic TV is oddly brilliant though...![]() This development is actually getting me quite excited. 'CONTROVERSIAL plans for the development of an £8 million budget hotel on the banks of the River Ness have been given the go ahead by councillors. The empty bingo hall on Huntly Street will be demolished to make way for the new five-storey hotel.' Do not ask me what is controversial about this, the developers want to take a rundown building and turn it into a hotel which will supply a lot of jobs for local residents. ![]() It fits in quite well with The Kitchen restaraunt beside it

Great thread, keep it up! Inverness is one of these places I always think of very fondly. When I was growing up, most holidays involved camping in a bog somewhere, furiously munro-bagging, so when we stayed (or even stopped for lunch or dinner) somewhere with more than a hundred people, I got inordinately excited (see also Oban, Aviemore, Fort William, Ullapool, etc).
Speaking of - is it Eden Court that has a cafe affair on the ground floor that dealt in buffet-plates of salads and the like? |

Inverness Museum is currently considering several, but three main, sites for its relocation.
" The Highland Council is seeking views on three sites for a new gallery and museum for the Highlands: Castle Street, Midmills, and the Riverside, Inverness. You can complete the survey online at www.citypartnership.org.uk, or pick up a form at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery, the Eastgate Centre or Inverness Town House and return it in the box provided there. The closing date for submissions is Friday 11 January 2008. I don't agree with any of them. I think that the courts should be moved to the Midmills building in Crown, and the castle should be used as the museum.

Yup the Museum should be moved to the Castle - having the Courts in the Castle i this day and age is ridiculous. Inverness Castle could be a huge tourist attraction in itself but Highland Council are being their usual hopeless selves.
As an aside, nice to see an Inverness thread - I'm from Inverness and visit regularly. Love going home - but love coming back to Glasgow! A few days at a time is enough up the road before I start yawning again

I agree RapidTaco, which should some criminals (there are innocent people too though
) be enjoying the castle when tourists and locals generally can't? It's ridiculous.I like the half life between Glasgow and Inverness, perfect mixture. Inverness is slowly beginning to get a bit more life about it, which can only be a good thing!

Jesus Christ! Why oppose this development? Empty, ugly site becomes new hotel which a design which is gentle and will supply many locals with jobs. Inverness needs to get rid of these backward councillors.

That new school looks remarkable similar to some new-build prisons I've seen.

Yep, it's horrible! And about a quarter of all the pupils in the school attended this primary school before they came to Millburn:
