Your collection of photos and comments is brilliant.
This is just beautiful and I hope you'll visit the town again to see the other sights*... and share them with us

*for example the submarine, the hamburg dungeon, the planten und blomen-park next to the 120m-Radisson, the hillside-like district Blankenese (you took a picture of it with the beach), the youthful leftist Party-district Sternschanze with its Gründerzeit-buildings, hippes and yuppies and so on.

3 x Thanks.

There's no doubt I'll visit Hamburg again and hopefully I can see some of those places next time.

I didn't know either, but I saw a sign in front of it saying the tower was open. The view is good, but you're right about the windows, really too small to get a larger view. There's also 2-3 other "platforms" with these windows on the way to the top. I do have more views from up there, took more than 500 photos during the trip, I'll post some of them in a upcomming round of leftovers.

All hail and veneration to you, Mikael! Congratulations and thanks for this truly magnificent presentation of the noble Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Great to hear that you enjoyed it.

As others have already mentioned, not only do you take great photos but your commentary is charming and enlightening at the same time.

Well, little wonder he likes churches! That dude is St. Ansgar, Archbishop of Hamburg (and Bremen). He is the Patron Saint of Denmark and during the course of his work he also visited your home turf of Jylland.

Wow! Really amazing shots of my hometown! You also have explored a relatively large area in this short time. :-)

Great pictures! Hamburg is a really amazing city.
Unfortunately Hamburg lost the election for a german candidate city for 2012 olympics against Leipzig.
Hamburg would have been a strong counterpart for London in the 2012 bidding race.

the HSV stadium will be extended from 57000 cap. to 61. 000 cap. from summer 09 until 2010.

St pauli stadium extension will need several years more because of financial things due to their "anti - commercialism" spirit particular from their supporters which made them famous even from fans from England , Scotland and Italy (mostly Juventus Turin ) who visit often " Pauli " matches .

Pic 64 , the building is called Dockland from Hadi Teherani , one of most busy architects in Hamburg but also many projects in the world. The flatiron like building a few pics before is also from him. Larsson architects from Denmark designed next to it the new SPIEGEL magazin headquarters and another building in a similar style , fitting to it.

I surely can identify with laziness, mlm, but did you forget?

Nevertheless, in anticipation!

Oops guess I did.

And thanks for the info on that St. Ansgar dude, didn't know that.

17 leftovers in this first round. I wont promise any more anytime soon, but I wont say it couldn't happen either.

101: First 3 views from around the Binnenalster right in the heart of Hamburg:

102: Nice promenade:

103: And the fountain in the middle of it:

104: Another swane, here right next to the cityhall square:

105: More from the Hafencity. Lots of construction at the moment:

106: And again, just from the opposite angle. Seems like a great place for drinks and dinner when the weather is like this:

107: Now in Altona/St. Pauli, this is just at the foot of the little highrise cluster there:

108: And that Astra Turm again:

109: Here's the viewing platform of St. Michaelis:

110: Just below there's this office building:

111: In the other direction you get a nice view of the Elbphilharmonie construction site:

112: And opposite to that, the famous Reeperbahn. Not too much to see from this altitude:

113: The bottom of the Nikolaikirche ruins:

114: And at the HSH Nordbank Arena again, here the empty pressconference room:

115: Someone requested more photos from the top of St. Petri so here's a few. First over Außenalster and Binnenalster:

116: And towards a (to me) unknown church very close by:

117: And finally in the other direction towards the harbour and central city:

That'll have to be it for now. My sister just gave birth to her first child this morning so "uncle mlm" have to go and see her.

Thank you for uploading this latest lot! We've all been waiting (not so) patiently for them and you've not disappointed us - they're absolutely great photos!
