Doesnt mean it isnt needed, though. KE code shares with AF and vice versa for all their daily flights to and from Paris.

That's true, with not needed I actually meant that it's doesn't look there will be a codeshare agreement in the near future.

With the Paris flights you see that Korean Air has a tighter relation with Air France then with KLM (even after the Air France-KLM merger). The fact that Korean Air only now starts direct flights to and from Amsterdam is a clear sign of that. The departure times of the Seoul - Paris flights are also coordinated. In Amsterdam they will depart around the same time, it's still looks more like competition then cooperation between these 2 SkyTeam members.

And even though both Korean and KLM have been members of SkyTeam since 2000 and 2004 codeshares on connecting flights from Amsterdam and Seoul have only started in 2010, with just 3 connections on both sides. KLM only increased it codeshare services on Korean flights from 1 to 3 this year, and only for destinations in Japan.

The cooperation between both airlines is still in it's early days, but it could grow. Especially now Korean starts the direct connection. The number of codeshares on connecting flights could increase because of this. And who knows this will eventually result in a full codeshare agreement on the Seoul - Amsterdam route. Something that will be good for both airlines.

KLM putting in code shares to smaller Chinese and Japanese markets where KE go to can only help the ridership.

KLM has already has a strong presence in China with 5 destinations (6 if you also count Taipei). And they also have extensive code share agreements going on with China Eastern, China Southern and some smaller Chinese airlines. For KLM there is nothing to gain in China using KE.

Japan is a different story, Korean Air reaches more Japanese destinations from Seoul then any Japanese airline from Tokyo Narita. For now there are only 3 code share flight from Seoul to Japan, Sapporo, Nagoya and Fukuoka. The 3 biggest markets in Japan that don't have direct KLM flights. The only thing that could prevent more code share routes to smaller Japanese cities is the partnership that Air France has with JAL in Japan. That's probably the main reason why Air France doesn't have code share flights on KE into Japan. AF and KLM do operate as 2 different airlines, so a bigger cooperation between KLM and KE in the Japanese market should not directly be an issue. But you never know what kind agreements are made on the level of the Air France-KLM mother company.

Schiphol best airport of Europe 2012 (Skytrax)

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport returned to the top 5 this year, taking 4th place in the overall rankings and winning the award for Best Airport in Europe. "We offer our sincere congratulations to Amsterdam Schiphol and its management on another year of success. Consistent performance in both the leisure and transit airport categories indicates that Schiphol is considered the premier airport in Europe for transfer passengers. The open airside environment for passengers in transit was a repeated reason given by respondents voting in the survey." said SKYTRAX.

Hi everyone, I'm a newcomer in here. I would like to know what type of aircraft is normally used by Qatar Airways for its passenger service? And what time does it normally arrived in Schiphol?

Qatar doesn't have a passenger service to Amsterdam, only cargo.

^Really? I am shocked. Amsterdam is a large European destination. Surely Qatar has a plan to go there?

There have been rumors about them starting a route to Amsterdam for years.

Now after the success of Emirates Amsterdam route the chance that they will follow has become bigger. But at the last big route announcement with the new routes for 2012 there was only news about an upgrade of the cargo route to Amsterdam from a A300 to a 777 freighter.

But every time when I checked at Qatar's website, it does mention a flight to Amsterdam. Well, if it doesn't go to Amsterdam, then which airline performing a code share flight for Qatar to Amsterdam?

LH does the codeshare flight from FRA to AMS and Augsburg from Munich for QR.. If you check the details on QR website there you can see that their DOH-AMS route has 1 stop via FRA or MUC.

What a pity. I was considering to fly with Qatar to Amsterdam, due to its higher level of service compared to Emirates.....

At the moment there's no A380 service at Schiphol. But Emirates is going to upgrade its Amsterdam service to an A380 from 1st August 2012. So it won't be long until we can spot Emirates superjumbo at Schiphol.

There is no market for a380 service to AMS, there is simply not enough Origin and Destination traffic.
