Well thats going to be nice for AMS. Plus its skyteam hub on either end to help with the flow of passengers.

What I was told was the that flight will be part of Jakarta-London flight. So Garuda will not introduce Jakarta-London direct. Instead, this flight will transiting at Amsterdam.

Unfortunately, Garuda does not have rights to make revenue on LGW-AMS route.

Cathay Pacific Plans Daily Boeing 777-300ER from 01NOV14

Cathay Pacific has further revised Hong Kong – Amsterdam operation for Winter 2014/15 season.

Planned 3-class Boeing 777-300ER operation on this route from 26OCT14 is delayed until 01NOV14, however it’ll operate on daily basis, instead of initially planned 3 weekly operation.

This means last A340-300 service is scheduled on 31OCT14 instead of 01JAN15.

Many destinations nowadays have a de-centralized security, which means that the passenger will go through security at the gate. With implementing a centralized security the passenger has more freedom of movement throught the airport. This especially improves the flow for transit passengers.

Works at the E, F and G pier have started to accommodate the centralized security. This means that new gate-houses are being build, gates will get refurbished and that a second floor will be build on the piers in order to separate incoming passengers from departing passengers.

Within the terminal complex works have started to change the security checkpoints at the entrances of lounges one, two and three. The most extensive works are expected in lounge 2 as it will undergo a complete refurbishment.
Finally, I hate the "security at the gate" solution.

Bump...

KLM Royal Dutch has been operating flights from the Netherlands for 95 years (first operated October 7, 1919)... and to mark that occasion, a "95 Years" decal was placed on an MD-11 (to be retired soon). Perhaps the only destination KLM operates its MD-11 to is Montreal (I wonder if it still does the occasional San Francisco run right now).

KLM Royal Dutch MD-11, "95 Years" (reg. PH-KCE)

Has that particular KLM aircraft gone to YYZ already? That aircraft can only be seen in a few airports... if you can, watch out for when that aircraft will fly to Toronto and take pics.

I wonder, though, what the airline and Schiphol will do once KLM hits 100 in 5 more years...

Montreal and Toronto are the final MD-11 destinations until they are retired. And this one has gone to Toronto.

KLM is the oldest (still existing) commercial airline. In 5 years they want to be at the forefront of commercial space travel (I overheard a conversation between several KLM officials in the train).

Apparently there is one former KLM MD-11 preserved as a lodging place in one corner of Schiphol airport. I wonder where does it located? And anybody know its original registration?
