Where does that put AMS in the stats in say the top 20?

Well (unless the growth numbers have changed a lot for other airports since September) I suppose around the 14th spot worldwide and 5th in Europe (because of the rapid growth of IST).

Btw, if Schiphol keeps outpacing Frankfurt in terms of passenger growth, who knows, it might overtake it some day...

Nice, any restrictions at AMS. Reason I ask this would be advantage AMS would have over LHR, & FRA in particular with the 2 curfew restricted.

The airport is not completely restriction, it's proximity to the city makes that impossible. There are night time restrictions, but the airport is not closed completely.

Last year the airport saw 438,000 movements, this can grow to 510.000 movements if certain criteria are met. This includes things like technological development which makes planes more quite, etc. But it does look like even an increase of movements to 470.000 will be hard to achieve within the norms that are currently in place.

Amsterdam can always try to attract larger airplanes. It's currently the largest airport in Europe in terms of regional jet movements. Something small like KLM replacing their Fokker F70 fleet with a larger plane (which should be decided this year) it could already increase the passenger numbers without increasing the number of movements.

But in the end it all depends on KLM, if they can sustain or even better improve their growth rates while improving the financial results. Not just for KLM but the whole KLM-Air France group. If the KLM hub decreases or even falls away completely it will mean a serious decline as the connecting passengers make up a very large of the passenger total.

So far, is there any other airlines who send their A380 to Amsterdam other than Emirates?

Istanbul Atatürk ( +11 % ) and Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen ( +27 % ) have the biggest growth rates of all airports in Europe.

Istanbul Atatürk has overtaken Amsterdam Shiphol ( 2014 ) and with this growth rates it will overtake Frankfurt Airport this year ( 2015 )

Busiest airports in Europe 2014

Here's a livery comparison for a low-cost carrier, Transavia Airlines, both at AMS:

Current livery (reg. PH-GGX)

New livery (2015) (reg. PH-HZE)

Which of those is better?

Just went home to NL and it appears that AMS is undergoing a lot of renovation at the moment.
