I was there in 1994 and it was impressive then. I can't wait to go back and experience it as an adult.

I was there in March this year, and I was impressed by the service at the airport, very nice and attentive staff.

The building is somewhat boring and ugly though, and why can you not buy chewing gum there?

Haha! Cleaning the airport from people simply throwing their chewing gum om the floors was very expensive, so it was more or less banned.

But anyhow. There must be an older Schiphol thread somewhere already.

Here in Oslo they sell a lot of Chewing Gum at the airport. We don't mind cleaning here

They seem pretty similar, although at the moment Barajas seems to have more terminal real estate:

Schiphol:

Schiphol has just one terminal, but is one BIG terminal with many piers that's why is 4th biggest in Europe and 7th in the World.
They are building a new pier so it will handle more pleople than ever.

@ julesstoop

The way I see it, Schiphol has more runways but Barajas has a wider land area as a whole.

I flew out of Schiphol back in 2002. It was very nice.

It looks like it is undergoing an expansion, what with the new freeway and runway recently completed. Anyone have info on this project?

A 7th runway needs to be built at Schiphol. Schiphol arleady has 6 runways. Also, is there limited space to develop new ternimals at Schiphol Airport?

That runway to the top left is really far out there. Is that what they call the "polderbaan?" I think that's how they spell it but I'm not sure what that means.
