Hello,
I have a little bit strange quetstion. Is a 5hr 15min layover in Schiphol airport enough to catch a train to Centraal Station, relax in on of the Coffee Shops and get back to catch a flight to the U.S ?

Yes.

Buy you have to be quick, go to passport control, then to Schiphol Plaza where you buy round trip tickets to Amsterdam Central Station, jump on the tarin and in 15 minutes you are there and can hang out in Centre of the city for about 3-4 hours and comeback. 3 hours is even enough.

That's what I did on the way back from Tehran, I had 5 hours layover and I went to the city centre

If you have already checked in your luggage, 40 minutes before boarding will do.

The first gates from the D-Pier can handle the big planes. Only the gates at the end of de D-pier are for smaller aircraft.

I had 6 hrs in Amsterdam. It was enough for train to Centraal Station, walk along Damrak, to visit coffee shop and Red Lights District, on the way back to get some nice lunch in city center and to go back to train

That is the South Axis. The three towers at the far right are Omval Area. The Sloterdijk area is more to the left.

passed through this airport three times this summer, looked great, but could be better if they build another terminal, a little crammy for the fourth largest airport in europe

What do you mean? I think the terminal is outstanding, especiallywhen I compare it with other large airports like Heathrow or Frankfurt. Schiphol had been declared best european airport several times, so why build a new terminal?
