I don't care how many seats it has, I just like the architecture. It's a very beautiful stadium.

It's really weird how my favourite skyscraper and one of my favourite stadiums are in North Korea...

So according to all sources, this one is not less than the biggest stadium by capacity nowadays in the whole world !

I find the design massive and weird. that is to say: soooo North Korean !

it reminds me an impressive music video from the technoid british act Faithless.
However it's not filmed at the Rungnado Stadium, but it contains stunning views of the mass games and North Korea.

I hope you enjoy !

Michigan University Stadium: 95 rows (without VIP/Media sector), max attendance: 110.000

Rungnado 1st of May Stadium: 89 rows (average, but actually only a few rows complete a whole circle, because of the huge gates+ VIP-area). Of course the playfield is bigger, so one row has more seats, BUT 40.000 seats more than Michigan??? NO WAY!

The average North Korean is much smaller than the average American (all those famines, you see ...), they are squeezed in like sardines, and if anyone complains they are shot. With that 150,000 is easy.

I was talking about the number of seats, not the number of people having breakfast at McDonald's.

Look at the subject of this thread. And the question in the poll is : "Do you tink the May day stadium REALLY takes 150 000 SEATED people?"

If the Ryugyong May Day Stadium has 88 rows of seating, and I multiplied said number by 1,200 (the probable average number of seats in a large stadium with an athletics track), then I believe the stadium's all seater capacity would be estimated at...

105,600

This stadium looks the best from far away, since the structure under the arches is kinda ugly.

I wonder, how many people would this stadium have taken in, let's say, '50s England? 250000?

It has less than 90 rows, and that single tier stand has less( bout 70?).Even if the seats are narrow 18 inches,i dont think a stadium with bout 90 tight rows can get to 150k.I know its a dumb comparison but bernabeu has 80 rows(with very likely identical legroom and seat width) very close to the field and has 80k.
There are many interruptions in the seating and one the stands is smaller, ane there are plenty of obstructed view seats that woulndt be usable. No more than 125k.And im being generous.

I think we agreed that IF this stadium does have 150 000 seats, that figure comes from the two full stands without the temporary pixel stand.

It is also obvious that the seats in that picture have since been replaced. the new seats may be more spacious and the just kept the old figure of 150 000?

The leg room does look very spacious in the pictures, and more legroom means a larger circumference of each row and thus more seats....

Man this stadium is such a mystery!!!
