Imagine what would have become of Argentina had the British won 200 years ago.

Argentina would have an economy like Canada or Australia, and speak English. Their football league would be like the AFL or CFL for scales of economies.

Not so sure independence was that great idea, look how badly it turned out to be for the Americans!

They are here in Melbourne over the weekend, their hometown.

3 concerts x 60,000

Interesting that the lead singer Bryan Johnson played the role of the Newcastle fan in the film 'Goal!' in the expat bar in L.A.

I bet u would die to have Emirates Stadium, instead of this ugly stadium.

Presumably Los Pumas will play their home games here when they join the Tri-Nations in 2012?

Usually Los Pumas use Velez Sarsfield's Stadium for test matches, but they could use this one since it'll be a bigger event.

Also, i was there for AC/DC's concert

That's what I like about Argentina, even in the "expensive" seats...everyone is on their feet singing. Not like in those fancy stadiums in Europe.

indeed,good man.

History makes this a great stadium.
Beautifull round lines also, but man the distance to the field. Dig the pitch out and make a 4th ring, but realy like the shape of this stadiums.
'Poor' conditions for the supporter don't realy make a difference on the big upper ring to me. That's standing any way, but on the lower rings conditions should be better.
Classic stadium though, never move!!!

If there were a reconstruction project to convert this stadium into an all-seater, the top tier would have to be torn down and replaced one section at a time. The new sections would easily accommodate seating by having wider concrete steps.
