So basically they would dig in and add another tray and add a roof? Not bad. Saves money.

Love it! Though I think the new bottom tier should be rectangular.

Awesome stadium, epic battles of Cruzeiro against River Plate in this stadium. An icon to south american football. Beyond it, Mineirão, Maracanã, Centenário, Defensores del Chaco, La Bombonera, Estádio Nacional del Chile and others are not known by their design and comfort, but it represents the passion and the athmosphere that envolves a game in South America. I wonder watch again games between europeans and south americans in Europe and South America, just to make the europeans afraid, just like in the 70's. Just a south american person can understand how important these temples are for us and how europeans don't know how to enjoy and enter in a game, making the crowd into the 12th player of your team.

Horrible el proyecto que querían hacer. Arruina todo lo que es el club, sacan a las familias para poner un shopping, nefasto.

totally agree. the design looks incredibly boring as well, whilst i know everybody here seems to hold opinions in favour of this design it would be a sad day for argentinian football to ruin a stadium with such history with such an underdeveloped proposal.

Why we must always look back the history? I think it would mark a new era a new monumental and a boost for buenos aires for a future olympic bid. New venue, new history, new beginning
Old Wembley also demolished

Buenos Aires is bidding for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games, and the River Plate Stadium, with a capacity of 55,000, is proposed as the venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies if their bid is successful. Upgrades may be required, though, such as temporarily making the stadium an all-seater for the duration of the YOGs.

i'm not saying they shouldnt be changing it, i'm just saying the proposal doesnt really live up to the historical significance of the current stadium. if you're going to change it then it should respect the history of the stadium, the proposed design is literally taking the piss, river deserve something much much better.

on the subject of wembley, the new wembley is shite imo.
