Hehe... Thank you Ajay chettan and dpkanu... Actually he is the one who made me a hardcore lover of Trivandrum. I think he is more spirited than me in Tvm issues and does wrtie up occassionally in newspapers about grave issues of Tvm.

And here are some high resolution pictures i had promised. Took it today evening minutes before rain pounced on the area with full force...

Great updates VJ.

BTW, you come from the "City of Lord Ananthan" i feel that quote itself is wrong, it will be complete only if you write it as "Ananthapadmanabhan", coz anathan is only his 1000 faced snake on which he sleeps in palazhy.

Sanju I have to disagree with you in this regard to an extend.
In my opinion what Vjfile quoted is correct because Trivandrum used to Ananthan Kadu. It was a thick forest surrounded by seven hills.
When King Marthandavarma took over the Kingdom he submitted the country to the feet of Lord Sreepadmanabha(Krishna/Vishnu) and he acquired the name Padmanabha dasa. The God in this temple is Lord Padmanabha reclining on his serpent bed Anantha.
You are correct the city is of known for Lord AnanthaPadmanabhan but at the same time the name derived from the Ananhan Kadu .

There is still Ananthan Kadu Nagaraja temple inside fort just behind Padmanabhaswami temple

http://www.hindupedia.com/en/Padamanabha_Swamy_Temple
http://wikimapia.org/8596838/ANANTHA...-TEMPLE-Embran

Origin of nameThe city gets its name from the word, Thiru-anantha-puram, meaning the "Abode of Lord Ananta".[17] The name derives from the deity of the Hindu temple at the centre of the city. Anantha is the serpent Shesha on whom Padmanabhan or Vishnu reclines. The temple of Vishnu reclining on Anantha, the Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple remains the iconic landmark of the city. The city was officially referred to as Trivandrum until 1991, when the government decided to reinstate the city's original name Thiruvananthapuram.

"The city of Lord Ananthan" is right Sanju...

ie; It's the city of the 1000 faced snake on which he sleeps in palazhy.

ONLY his 1000 faced snake??

Ananthan is with most of the Padmanabhas Missions. He is not that bad.

Hehe.. Sanju bhai had to agree there.. :P thiruvananthapuram city is indeed known as the city of Lord Padmanabhan but what i had meant by City of lord Ananthan was an english translation of the word "Thiruvananthapuram".
And due to that we were able to get a brief history of how the city got its name. Kudos guys..

And I also feel that the city name is more attached to Ananthan as the Lord Vishnu is lying on the city, thus the city is actually acting as Ananthan.

"Infy Bubble"

In a move to launch more employee-friendly initiatives, India’s second largest IT exporter Infosys (formerly Infosys Technologies) has launched a social media platform for its employees.

Said to be an equivalent of Facebook, the social networking platform ‘Infosys Bubble’ allows an employee to share his/her views, pictures, moods and blogs among 1,33,560 fellow Infoscions.“We understood the need of communication among Infosicons. Two years ago, during our strategy meeting, members of our Rs Voice of Youth’ team gave a proposal and our technology team designed it. It resulted in Infosys Bubble,” said Nandita Gurjar, Senior VP and Group head, HR of Infosys. According to the company, an employee can post general comments on the management using the platform, but have to maintain discipline.

They are not allowed to post personal comments on any individual or senior officials.

The social platform launched one-and-a-half months ago, has around 2,61,030 connections and has created around 74,376 profiles.

Infosys is also planning to launch its own radio station called ‘Infy radio’, exclusively for its employees. The radio station is expected to be launched in a couple of months. To enjoy Infy Radio, employees need to download an application on their iPod and other handheld devices and listen to music on demand, said Gurjar.

The radio project will be like a normal radio station from where employees can tune in to music and request for their favourite songs. Through this radio station, we plan to bring more fun for employees. Here you can spoof even your leaders … as it’s just fun,” Nandita added.

The Bangalore-based IT services firm which saw a drop in its attrition rate in the quarter ended June 30 at 15.5 per cent, is also planning to start an MBA programme for employees. The company intends to start the programme in partnership with a management institute.

According to company data, around 7,182 people left the organisation during the April- June period. More than 30 per cent of them left to pursue higher studies. The company said 32 per cent of the employees leave every quarter due to personal reasons and 38 move to other companies.

Infosys is also creating a proposal to launch another ‘Green Channel’ initiative, to hire ex-Infoscion from various B-schools. The company believes that Green Channel hiring are faster than normal hiring. The company said it was planning to hire around 12,000 people in the second quarter of FY12 and had revised hiring guidance for the year 2012 to 45,000 from earlier 36,000.

Its clear that among Tier II cities, Trinfy employs maximum number of people. Mysore capacity is counted by taking learning centre capacity as well.

An article that came up in Jagran Post on Oct 23rd..

Alappuzha (Kerala): IT major Infoys plans to invest Rs 800 crore in Kerala to expand operations and expects to generate 10,000 new jobs through this in the next five years, a top company official said here on Saturday.

The company has two centres in Thiruvananthapuram and provides employment to 2,100 professionals, Infoys CEO S D Shibulal told reporters here.

He said Infosys has set a target to to recuit 45,000 persons this year in the country and had already given jobs to 15,000.

Shibulal said global recession had not seriously affected the company's operations. Business in the second quarter grew by 4.5 per cent and Infosys acquired 45 new clients, he said.

The company also entered into agreement with four major multinationals this year, he added.

He said there was no threat to Indian IT sector from any other countries in the near future. English based education and a good foundation in science and mathematics for students have helped India emerge as a major player in IT sector in the world, he said.

Total IT business in Kerala was Rs 3,200 crore and Infoys' share would come to around Rs 608 crore, he said to a question. There was issue connected with labour in company's centres in the state, he added.
