Yeah, I'm staying at the 'My Place' hotel. Quite nice, really.

@ Taller, Better: I'm using a good ole Canon digital rebel with a tamron 18/200 lense.

Nice views, Jan. The Aon cluster always looks enchanting from Marina City.

Very, very nice. I agree that the Donnelley Building is ugly, but it can look really nice at night, depending on the lighting.

Chi-town still looks nice the way we left it! Barclay towers was my favorite building there. Great city.

Beautiful photos. Is the observation deck on the roof open to the public, and if so is it free?

It's always nice looking from the sky, but Chicago is very deceptive on street level, and much more dangerous than it appears at first. I have been to the top of that same building and indeed, the view from there is very spectacular. It would've been fine if you don't have to travel, go to work, or try to take transit, or have to walk around on foot, then things are at a very different perspective and experience level. The street might look nice and there maybe even some pretty landscape and garden but the ghetto elements are everywhere, even in so called up scale neighborhoods.

Top on the "must-see" list.

Since I never visited, I refer to Chicago as some kind of "heavy duty New York" I know it may be hard to understand what I mean, it is based on a personal feeling and I hope I will soon have a chance to field test it.

As a comment to the previous post...well I guess that any degree of knowledge you may have about Chicago far exceeds mine, since I have none but..don't you agree that most impressive hi-rise clusters can be diappointing at stree-level anywhere? Mainly because you don't see the towers so you miss the bang. Just asking of course...

What? River North around Marina City is dangerous and "ghetto"? I think you should walk around (or drive around if you think that's safer) the area some more.
