No, they don't. They served the Jakarta route using the smaller Airbus A340. Back in the past, they used to employ Boeing 747-400. But with the waning popularity of European airlines in Indonesia (Indonesians would mostly prefer Asians and Middle Eastern airlines to travel to Europe), most European airlines withdrew their service to Jakarta, and the surviving European airlines switched to smaller airliner for Jakarta service.

Emirates have long expressed their wish to operate Airbus A380 to Indonesia (especially Jakarta), but repeatedly denied due to technical reason.

Back in the past, the reasons were two: inadequate runway strength and smaller-than-required gate capacity.
But the unscheduled landing of Singapore Airlines' A380 proved that the runway strength is capable to accommodate the Superjumbos.

Well Jakarta airport would be a mess if an A380 carrying full load land there, immigration line will be very longggg, and disembarking and boarding will take much more time since CGK doesn't have a jetway/aerobridge for the 2nd deck.....

The protectionism law have been abolished since 2001. Now it's all competition between each airlines. Be it, whether if it's between locals, or between locals and foreign airlines.

The reason why they don't use A380 to Indonesia is purely technical: our airports is not yet designed to handle Airbus A380.

It's usual for the test flight: testing all systems.

First MAS A380 moves to flight line in preparation for delivery

Quote:
The first A380 for Malaysia Airlines (MAS) returned to Toulouse on 9th May following completion of interior furnishing and cabin system tests in Hamburg. The aircraft is now stationed at the Airbus flight line for final system checks prior to the start of the customer acceptance process and delivery at the end of the month.

The national airline of Malaysia will become the eighth operator of the A380 and will commence commercial service between Kuala Lumpur and London effective 1 July this year. Altogether, the carrier has ordered six A380s and has specified a premium three-class layout for the aircraft, seating a total of 494 passengers. The MAS A380 fleet will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.

The aircraft is painted with the base design of Malaysia Airlines’ bright new livery. Additional features of the livery developed specially for the MAS A380 will be applied post-delivery.

Malaysian Airline Fits A380s With Widest Seats in the Sky

Malaysian Airline System Bhd. (MAS) has taken a 5-inch lead over Singapore Airlines Ltd.

That’s how much wider the carrier’s first-class seats will be than Singapore Air’s when it starts flying the Airbus SAS A380 in July. In total, passengers will have more space than on a single-bed mattress, with seats measuring 40 inches by 87 inches.

The new seats, costing about $9,000 for a round trip to London, will spearhead Malaysian Air’s push to win corporate and long-haul travelers after higher fuel prices and competition from budget carrier AirAsia Bhd. (AIRA) led to a 2.5 billion ringgit ($795 million) loss last year. Thai Airways International Pcl (THAI) will also get its first A380s this year, adding a further challenge for Singapore Air.

“Malaysian Air has to improve on their premium services in order to be able to compete,” said Joshua Ng, an analyst at RHB Research Institute Sdn. in Kuala Lumpur. “There is a bit of national pride involved as well -- especially when you’re talking about competing with Singapore Air.”

The carrier, the eighth A380 operator, will start flights with the plane on July 1 with a trip to London. Daily services on the route will begin Aug. 25. Flights to Australia and another country will be added as more of the planes enter service, Anbarasu Sundram, a spokesman for the airline based in Subang outside Kuala Lumpur, said by phone. The last is due to arrive in February.

There won't be an A380 with 840 seats, Air Austral is canceling their order.

Quote:
Air Austral (UU, St. Denis de la Réunion Roland Garros (RUN)) has announced that it will cancel its order for two A380-800s originally placed in 2009. It had planned to use the aircraft in a full Economy Class configuration with 840 seats which would have allowed it to have a significant cost per seat advantage over its competitors between Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and St. Denis de la Réunion Roland Garros (RUN).
https://www.ch-aviation.ch/portal/ne...er.php?view=32
They are going to a restructuring program now because the airline is heavily loss making. They simply cannot afford and don't the planes, just like the recently completed 777-200LR that is waiting for delivery for over a month at the Boeing factory in Everett.

Kingfisher has not surprisingly also deferred their orders for A350 & A380s until further notice.

But according to this German source Airbus expects 30 orders for the A380 this year including an order from Cathay Pacific. It's also rumored/expected that Emirates will place another top up order.
