In the sky.

Just kidding.

There haven't been any official route announcements yet, but they have said that they are looking at Hong Kong, Beijing, Singapore & New York for the A380.

As we're all celebrating Thai's first A380 we take our eye off the ball that Emirates recieved they're 24th airframe today, and number 25 should be coming around the 1st of October.

Speaking of A380s, is it true that EK will order another variant of the Super Jumbo aircraft which would allow longer flights? It seems like EK would like to send an A380 on a daily rotation between DXB and SFO, but I don't know if that would happen in a foreseeable future. If that happens, EK would be the fourth airline to operate the A380 to SFO, after LH, AF (since shifted to B747-400), and SQ (starting December, via HKG).

EK and A380 to LAX would be a good choice. But I wonder what that range would be. I still thought though that SFO would become an EK A380, if not the first destination for the longer-range variant. Plus, I also wanna ask: how many passengers would that A380 be.

Seating capacity will remain the same. The longer range version, A380-800R, will have optimized fly-by-wire control laws and new strengthened airframe structure, and increasing in wing twist. Due to this, MTOW will be increased in 4 tonnes and additional 190 km in flight range will be added.

IMHO, It would be logical to mount A350 XWB's engines on A380 in oder to grow more flight range and load.

Can you guys see airbus putting sharklets on future A380 wings in the future, especially the 389 when launched. I'm sure that would give at least an extra 500 km of range.

Theoretically yes. After fixing issue with wing cracks they can think of putting sharklets.

Those would be large sharklets on the planes indeed. I don't know if that would hold the already massive plane...

I'm mesmerized with Thai Airways' brand new A380. Looks really amazing. Will the Royal Highness bless the aircraft, as it has been traditionally done?

The Thai livery certainly improves the look of the normally awkward looking (IMO) A380.
