Truly amazing. Looks like the Falcon Route has finally arrived.

By the way, I wonder what the specifications are for an A380 gate… I ask because I understand that it is much larger than a typical 2-door jetway for a B747 or A340. And I wonder how it can be used when a smaller jet uses it.

I am so proud to be part of this historical moment...

Here's snap shot and a video of the flyover... The sight was just amazing!

The Philippines Government has restriction in places for Emirates landing slots, I wouldn't be surprised if they have for the type of Aircraft used as well (as India does) .... although it also depend on how capable the Airports are to handle them

Qantas have been sending their A380's to MNL for over a year now for reconfiguration works so it definitely can handle the type...

The fact that they land there doesn't mean the airport can handle a regular A380 passenger service, yes the runway and taxiways can fit the airplane, but the terminal? The services inside the airport can handle the huge amount of passengers that arrive in the A380 at a single time?

I don't have the full details of the Philippines–UAE Air Pact, but, I would suspect that with the current overcrowding in MNL, coupled that with an ever-increasing congestion at the airport and facilities that may or may not be able to accommodate the super jumbo aircraft at the moment, I believe that EK might not send the A380 to MNL until a gate that can accommodate the aircraft can be made.

That has been the big debate I have been dealing with at the MNL airport thread where I asked if there is a gate capable of handling the A380, and so far, I have yet to hear a decent reply. There are already four terminals in MNL, with one of them technically still "under construction" because there are still minor details that aren't finished today, and it is a very complicated issue to work with since the government isn't that fast or efficient enough to provide all the details and long-term plans for MNL. More recently, plans for constructing a brand new international airport for Manila has been deferred due to the government's indecision on how to deal with expansion plans at yet another international airport, in which the private sector wants to get involved.

Why is there two Qanatas jets at Dubai? Isnt it only one daily Sydney-Dubai-London flight?

Well, there are actually two Dubai-London flights with QF, the other being Melbourne-Dubai-London.

Maybe that is the reason why EK will also fly into CRK starting from October.

There will actually be four Qantas A380s a day in DXB. Remember two new airframes are coming tomorrow from Australia, and the two that were in Dubai today will be making they're return leg from London tomorrow.

Another highly-likely reason indeed. With Dubai-Manila being 4x daily from October (3x to MNL, 1x to CRK), all on 2-class B77Ws, I suspect that when the time comes—also if the new airport pushes through with A380 gates—Manila will finally get an A380 service from Dubai, especially that Manila has a large aircraft maintenance center capable of handling the super jumbo aircraft.
