wow....that means the A380F would have been the largest freighter ever. Maybe it would compete with An-225?

No, A380F would have been a huge turn. It had 2 floors, no nose door and just too heavy for the weight it lifted. Nobody would buy it even if it was free. It's in no way comparable to the 124/225/C5, etc.

And now that the freighter market is dying a slow death and we have good freighters in 777 and 747-8, there'll never be a need for the A380F.

I've seen that already... in fact, it even has the layout for BA's upcoming A380 as well.

I think the A380 might be used on the DOH-LHR rotation (and the 787 has been used before on that same flight before the battery problems suspended its service), and I suspect that it could be used on high-density routes as well... But it's interesting to see where it will be deployed, especially that EK operates lots of A380 flights already from DXB.

Right... That's DXB-LHR. What I'm referring to would be DOH-LHR, especially that QR will indeed get an A380 as well, and that QR at the moment operates B777s (and soon, 787 resumption) to London/Heathrow.

One day there might be BA, QR, QF, EY, and EK all operating their A380s on the LHR-middle east hub routes.
