You do realize it's the airline that orders the plane who decides what seating and screen sizes are out it and not Airbus?

+1. I'm not sure how one can judge an airplane by what the airline chose to equip. If they put smaller screens and older style storage bins, that's their fault. As was previously shown, Airbus does indeed offer modern pivot bins, and larger screens. The A380 is an absolutely spectacular piece of engineering.

Airbus just said they hope to break even in 2015 on the A380.

"EADS has put out quarterly results and said that while it still hopes to break even on the Airbus A380 in 2015, a small shortfall "would not be a financial disaster". It would need to make 30 deliveries that year to break even and it hasn't yet managed to make that many sales. Its net profit for the three months from July to September was 436m euros ($587m; £366m), up from 301 million euros a year earlier." BBC

Do they alow A380s to use the runway while another A380 is on the parallel taxiway? It seems, if they do, that there will be a very small clearance for the wingtips.

Well that shot is at LAX. They don't have enough A380 service yet to worry about that yet. There schedule is pretty spaced out. I think they worry more about an A380 and a 747 or 777 clipping wingtips on the taxi and runway.

This plane really frightened me at first, but now I really like it and hope it takes off with passengers.

Smoke is typical. The first time they start an engine there are always lubricating oils and greases left over from the manufacturing process that are burnt off.

Smoke is completely normal when an engine is started for the first time.

That used to be a normal sight when the RB.211's on the old Lockheed L1011's were first started, but I think the EPA and the EU banned that practice in modern times. Nowadays, on modern jet airliners in commercial operation, you don't see a big cloud of smoke coming out of the engines when they're first started.
