Haters gonna hate. Each time there's an Emirates order for A380's someone brings the point of the "unsutainability" of the company's business, and point to "this must be the last such order". Somehow the company managers seem to think otherwise, and so far they're doing pretty good.

However A380s are perfectly suited for long-haul routes between hubs that receive a lot of connecting passengers.
This is also why I think that Turkish Airlines might be the best new candidate for a sizeable order of A380s.

Here is how Doric's construction works:

Quote:
Dr. Peter Hein, Doric’s managing director, admits the lessor’s A380 program faces “hard questions,” but expresses satisfaction with the aircraft to date. “With respect to our Airbus A380s under management, we only have excellent experience,” he said, before explaining the mechanics of his business.

“Over the 12-year lease, the debt is fully amortized and the investor(s) [get] more than 100 percent of the equity investment in distributions. The relevant amounts to pay debt service plus distributions result from the contractual monthly lease rents. At Year 12, investors have a positive return already, plus an unencumbered plane with four engines.

“Investors do not assume that the plane including the four engines will be scrapped, but will create further income. [This] can result from re-leasing to the existing lessees for a couple of years; shorter term leases to other parties; sale of the plane; [or] scrapping. We also act as remarketing agent for third parties and have some recent experience there.”

What's with the blue smoke? Is that suppose to be like a flyover with the colors of the Emirates flag colors? I don't recall any blue in the flag. Correct me if I am mistaken. Airbus should put a big sticker on the proto type A380 and fly it with the saying "Thank You Emirates for buying so many aircraft that we finally made a profit."

I could be wrong but I believe the blue smoke is suppose to be Black not Blue?
Congratulations Airbus & EK for making the A380 program a true success!
