It seemed that the airline began to struggle to operate A380....

Guangzhou – Sydney was always a weird route choice. Not really surprising.

Wow that route was short lived. China Southern is having some major problems with their long haul routes with the A380. They only currently serve CAN-LAX and CAN-SYD(ending next year.) I heard that the Chinese government is causing problems by not allowing them to fly their planes on routes they want to serve and they cant find the demand to fly them profitably. I wonder what route they will try next. It would be nice to see some inter Asia routes like to NRT/SIN/ICN with their A380s or to LHR with the A380 and not domestic routes where they lose money.

Can't believe they only just got their first A333 which was their first wide body aeroplane and they have an A380 being built! Crazy.

Something must be preventing China Southern to simply deploy the A380 on the Guangzhou - Paris or Beijing - Paris routes. Paris is a popular route from East Asia and Paris is a SkyTeam hub. That would have been the most logical destination from the start.

The Chinese government don't want China Southern to compete with Air China on those routes.

Yes they do have rules that prevents all the major airlines in China from competing on international routes from the same major international airport. Like China Southern and Air China cant compete on the LHR-PEK route or the JFK-PEK route. Also I read that the Guangzhou hub really cant support the A380 on but a few select routes. I don't get why they serve multiple routes each week with one A380.

Looks like EK are cleared to fly the A380 into India.

EK will also receive they're first two class seating A380 in October 2014 for Indian flights.

China Southern has so far based its international growth on its Guangzhou hub, particularly since its efforts to begin Airbus A380 long-haul service out of Beijing have been blocked by incumbent Air China.

How about Shanghai Pudong or Hong Kong, then?

The first of 13 superjumbos planned for Qatar's fleet, it includes*a small first class cabin of eight suites using an all-new design aimed at out-gunning (but hopefully not out-blinging) the private pointy-end private suites of Gulf competitors Emirates and Etihad.
The business class cabin will feature*52 seats identical to those already seen on Qatar's Boeing 787 fleet.

Both first and business class will be located on the top deck, along with a small economy cabin and a lounge to separate travellers in the cheap seats from the premium passengers.
The A380's lower deck will be economy from tip to tail.

MNL would be ideal for this configuration, if only one of the terminals could take it.
