Lufthansa so far has the densest a380 with 526 seats. With the upcoming business class retrofit, there will be a 6 seat drop, reducing the total seat count to 520. It will remain the densest though.

So awesome! Hopefully, it will be used also on regional runs from Japan to compete against JL and NH operating to China and Southeast Asia... What's the seating configuration like?

Lufthansa are also introducing Y+ but I haven't seen what this does to the A380 configuration. A two class configuration has been mooted by Emirates at 600+ seats. Possibly, more likely to happen now that India has reversed its ban.

I think the trend is moving towards planes having a business class, an economy class and some economy plus, where extra space is the only perk (instead of posh catering or else).

With lie-flat seats becoming the norm on executive class, I think the market for first class is shrinking.

I'm not 100% as to the reliability of the source but fantastic news if it turns out to be true.

Unlikely to be used to India at least for a foreseeable future. Emirates doesn't have enough seats to expand, and they limiting A380 to Mumbai and Delhi, which are premium heavy markets (they generally use 3 class aircrafts to these cities)
