They use B747-8 (FRA) and A340-600 (MUC).

Some second hand ones when Emirates starts to dumb the ones from their fleet. Probably get them for dirt cheap money instead of buying them brand new.

The former Hong Kong Airlines order is still on Airbus order book as an order by an Unidentified Customer. As the Chinese government is largely responsible for placing orders for Chinese airlines it could have been allocated to another airline. That makes China Eastern a possible candidate for these 10 A380s. The question is, as routes are also very regulated by the government if China Eastern if they can actually also use the A380 in their network. If they are actually allowed to use it on their busiest routes. That was one of the issues that China Southern had to deal with after they received their A380s. You would expect that the government would show some coordination between the ordering process and the route allocation system, but apparently that wasn't the case as China Southern was not allowed to use the A380 as they would have liked.

Hmmm, this aircraft's registration sounds like a familiar animal...

A380 PRG operation

Prague airport (PRG) will be now fully prepared for the regular A380 operation - the first triple jet-bridge is being installed

Well sounds like they want Emirates to start A380 service or Korean Air to start A380 service in the summer time.

Yep. Perhaps it could also signal for even more long-haul opportunities for Prague in the long-run if it wants to handle even larger aircraft such as the A380... but, would that gate be able to serve the B747 and B777 comfortably, too?

Nothing officially confirmed yet, for this summer season it seems that Korean A380 will be in Prague just occasionally, let's see next year And for Emirates, as far as I know they will continue B773 operation to Prague

Yep, we will see And I think this gate is able to serve also other types of aircraft such as B747, B777, B787, A350, A340, A330 and B767 without using the third bridge which is only intended for the upper deck of A380, please correct me if I'm wrong

As much as i would like to see A380 regularly in Prague, I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

As mentioned Korean Air has large number of business seats which is hard to fill on flights to Prague. Maybe with change of seats?

As for Emirates, A380 could be possible maybe in two to three years afer they serve other more popular destinations with A380?

Emirates to the rescue...... again.

Quote:
Emirates Airline Agrees to Take Airbus A380 Jets Earlier

DUBLIN—Emirates Airline has once again come to the aid of the Airbus Group NV A380 superjumbo program by agreeing to take some planes earlier to give the plane’s sole leasing customer more time to find operators for the aircraft.

Emirates Airline, the world’s largest carrier by international traffic, will receive an additional four A380s in 2016 that aircraft lessor Amedeo had agreed to take, Mark Lapidus, chief executive of the leasing business said in an interview. Amedeo is now poised to receive its first A380s available for lease in 2017.
full article (full article available via Google search):
http://www.wsj.com/articles/emirates...ier-1421754934

IMO the main 2 conclusions from this news are:
1. Amedeo has problems finding customers for their 20 A380s. Something that has been said by critics since they announced their order. From the experiences from the current operators we know that you need a solid business plan to make the A380 successful. For the airlines that have such a plan it's a magnificent plane. For the airlines that don't it's causing trouble. This shows that it's not an aircraft for airlines to just order and then just see what they are going to do with it.

It's also becoming clear that the existing operators are also not lining up to add some more to their fleet through Amedeo, this brings me to my 2nd conclusion.

2. Emirates is kindly helping Airbus with this move, but on the other hand they are not willing to help Amedeo by taking on these frames as a lease from Amedeo. As the other operators are also not eager to take these leases it could also mean that there's a bit of an issue with this leasing company. It's history that started with a nasty break away from the lease company Doric GmbH might still be a reason for airlines to be hesitant with Amedeo.
