It is indeed burned oil and other residues from the engine, but it's not the 1st start-up as the plane has already flown from Toulouse to Hamburg. As the plane is painted and furnished the engines aren't used and do get a bit dirty. Even with a re-start after a some time without running the engines you can get this kind of smoke.

Turkish Airlines to decide between Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8I

Istanbul AtatŁrk Airport

Turkish Airlines (THY) will decide between Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8I for its future wide body plane purchases, according to THY's Board Chairman Hamdi TopÁu's statement published in the February-March issue of corporate magazine Empathy.

TopÁu's statement came in TK2023 Last Call for Future Management Summit that brings hundreds of THY executives together. Answering an executive's question about whether new generation planes will be included in THY's fleet following the completion of Istanbul's third airport, which will be used by THY as its main hub, TopÁu said that they are still evaluating the issue and A380's are among the aircraft on their mind.

It was reported that THY is trying to decide between the A380 and 747-8I.

The third airport will especially allow wide body planes to conduct long range flights.

TopÁu added that THY's new headquarters will be built next to the already existing one adjacent to Istanbul's Ataturk Airport (IST), and this building will meet THY's needs for 10 years to come.

Turkey's flag carrier had earlier announced on the Public Disclosure Platform on Monday that it has decided to purchase four Airbus A330-200F cargo aircraft, which would to be delivered between April of this year and January 2017 to its subsidiary Turkish Cargo.

By seeing Turkish relations with US they will go for 747 Boeing Series....!....A380 will be too bulky and expansive if the load factor couldn't as per their desire...!

When you factor in their vast fleet of Airbus variants A320's, A330's, A340's this order could go either way...

Airbus raises A380 seat count to 544 passengers

PARIS, March 20 Fri Mar 20, 2015 2:12pm EDT

Quote:
(Reuters) - Airbus has increased the standard number of seats in the brochure for its A380 superjumbo to 544, the company said on Friday.

The increase from the previous layout of 525 seats relies on a denser cabin configuration using 11 seats in each Economy row instead of the current 10.

Airbus says this can be achieved while maintaining 18-inch-wide seats by better using the double-decker's space, but it remains unclear how passengers will respond.

"We have updated our A380 standard cabin layout to reflect the latest cabin innovations and trends, which have evolved since the A380 first entered service," a spokeswoman said.

The move comes as Airbus steps up efforts to boost sales of the plane, which has not found an airline customer since 2013.

The chief executive of Amedeo, a leasing company that ordered 20 planes and has a marketing partnership with Airbus, said in an interview published earlier that efficient formats up to around 600 seats held a key to finding new customers.

Turkish can get the 747 faster since there are less orders?

A380 has over 100 orders
