Qatar adds A380 flights to Bangkok

BOONSONG KOSITCHOTETHANA ON AUG 24, 2015
SOURCE: MCCLATCHY

Quote:
Aug. 22--Qatar Airways is to boost its Airbus A380 services to Bangkok in a move seen as matching Emirates' plan to upgrade its superjumbo flights to the capital.

It will introduce a second daily A380 flight from Doha to Bangkok by Sept 16 and a third by Oct 25, industry executives told the Bangkok Post.

The airline's Bangkok-Doha frequency, now at four flights a day, will remain unchanged, but the double-decker A380 will replace the smaller Boeing 777-300ER on two of the flights.

One of Qatar's daily flights is already served by the superjumbo.

Daily seating capacity on the route will be ramped up to 1,931 from 1,657.

It amazes me that Bangkok is getting so much A380 service from Emirates and Qatar. They will be up to 5 or 6 daily flights from DOH/DXB-BKK.

7 daily, to be more precise, after Qatar's 3rd and Emirates' 4th are operational (by the end of the year if I'm not wrong). It's just a matter of time before Emirates (and maybe Qatar too) goes all a380 on this route especially with the introduction of a 2-class version.

That was coming, at least it's not straight cancellation which was also being rumored. It could still happen though, with the prepayments being used to pay for firming up the A330 order.

For Airbus these deferral is not that good news, although they are lucky that they have Emirates who seem to be willing to take any freed up delivery slot.

Etihad Airways Gets Luxury Concierge Team For A380 Flyers

http://hauteliving.com/2015/08/etiha...flyers/583836/

Quote:
Before you even land in Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways wants you to begin experiencing the extravagance of their culture. That’s why they teamed up with global concierge provider Ten Group to create a uniquely luxurious flying experience.

On Etihad’s Airbus A380 fleet exists The Residence; a class much above first where you have your own suite. And by suite we mean a living room, private shower room, and double bedroom. Features you would normally find on a private jet. This elite way to travel will now boast an Etihad Lifestyle Concierge team who will cater to the specified needs of these lucky travelers. The team will work side-by-side with the airline’s Residence by Etihad butlers, who were trained at the London Savoy.

In announcing the new service, Etihad noted that it will be a “highly personalized and discreet experience, providing access to a range of services including dining reservations, entertainment bookings, special events, destination information and lifestyle services.

Whether it is for a last-minute booking at a top London restaurant, tickets for a Broadway show, or even the purchase of a rare blue diamond, our fully connected fleet will enable us to assist guests staying in the Residence by Etihad with their requirements immediately, 24 hours a day, at 35,000 feet, and with the most professional levels of service.”

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ chief commercial officer added: “We have chosen to collaborate with a provider possessing the global reach and expertise which meet the demands and expectations of our most discerning guests. With the launch of the Etihad Lifestyle Concierge, in partnership with Ten Group, we are taking luxury airline travel to levels never experienced before.”

The first Etihad Airways A380 flight flew from Abu Dhabi’s international Airport to London’s Heathrow Airport in December. On May 31st the airline deployed an additional A380 on a daily flight to Sydney. In the works is an upgrade of one of their double daily services to New York’s JFK by December 1st. Wherever the A380 may go, it is sure to be the most luxurious ticket in the sky.

Emirates A380 service starts today for Orlando. Also the DXB-MCO route starts today. Its the first time an A380 starts a route for Emirates and between two cities.

It's only a one off media stunt for exposure by Emirates. Tomorrow, and on the 77L will start flying the route.

Just sharing...

IN CASE YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW: From its Dubai base, Emirates Airline can fly the A380 to all land points around the globe except for two tiny islands in the South Pacific, namely (i) Pape'ete, and (ii) Hanga Roa.
