I could imagine car alarms going off at this low level.

That popped up in my Facebook timeline
Quote:
AIRBUS COMMITS TO FUTURE OF A380 AIRCRAFT
Superjumbo programme breaks even for the first time

European planemaker Airbus has given its backing to the long-term future of the A380 superjumbo, after finally starting to break even on the programme.
(...)
John Leahy, Airbus' chief operating officer, customers, said that with a production rate of 27 aircraft a year, the A380 had broken even, and that he believed the programme had a bright future. “We are happy with the A380,” he said. “We have quite a few years' production ahead of us. There will be new customers in 2016.”
Let's see how things turn out in the future.

Airbus is not again going to turn a good news event into a PR nightmare only to result in falling share prices.

Any statement from them that is not the announcement of a large actual firm order or the actual launch of the A380neo should be considered as buying time to figure out what to do with the A380 program. Keep the investors happy for now, until they can publish good news or spin bad news in such a way that it won't do too much harm.

Anyway.

There was some more news on the order front. There was 1 cancellation last month, that was 1 for Transaero. The other 4 on order by this defunct Russian airline have been transferred to an unknown leasing company called Air Accord. As this was not booked as a cancellation and new order this leasing company is directly related to Transaero or it's creditors.

In other 2016 news today.

Virgin Atlantic looks to be ordering the A350-1000 for their long haul long-haul leisure operations. The news doesn't directly mention any direct relation with their A380s on order. But many people believe it will include a conversion of their A380 order into these A350s.

Seriously dodgy piece of 'accounting' seeing as Amadeo have a similarly dodgy order smoothing exercise on the books from a few years back.

I'd certainly be one of those believers whether you yourself are or not Momo.

Conveniently the A350-1000 is exactly what Airbus fancy selling lots of to Emirates and all seeing as the 787-10 looks like not having the grunt in properly Hot Gulf daytime conditions.

Emirates to introduce Airbus A380 on routes to Washington D.C.

13 January 2016 • Author: Katie Sadler, Digital Content Producer, International Airport Review

Quote:
Emirates airline has revealed plans to introduce its flagship Airbus A380 on routes from Dubai International Airport to Dulles International Airport, Washington D.C.

Emirates Airbus A380 will replace the existing Boeing 777-300ER used on the route daily from Dubai (DXB) to Washington D.C (IAD) from 01 February 2016. The implementation will aid growing customer demand and restore route capacity following United Airlines’ planned withdrawal from the Washington D.C. to Dubai route after 25th January 2016.

Timings for the daily inbound/outbound flights on the Dubai (DXB) – Washington, D.C (IAD) route will remain unchanged. As of 1st February, flight EK231 will continue to depart Dubai at 2:20 A.M. daily arriving in Washington, D.C at 8:15 A.M. Timings for the return flight, EK232 will also remain unchanged, departing Washington, D.C. at 10:15 A.M., arriving in Dubai at 8:00 A.M. the next day.

The plane would look better if the design of the front could be streamlined.

If we are talking looks, I'll rather replace the wingtip fences with blended winglets

Not quite. Airbus A380 is a rather silent aircraft, so it wont trigger car alarm with its noise.
