I really enjoy the pictures, i hate the fact that there are two threads for one same topic ... completely useless from my point of view. Keep the pictures coming!

In that case they have the option of 3 or 4 daily flights from certain airports where they have 2 flights now and need to use the A380 for one or both of these.

If they decide to go with higher frequency and develop the third or even fourth (daytime) movement peak they may not need a new A380 to feed in and out.

Furthermore the SEC has recently shown great interest in programme accounting vis a vis the 787 and 747 and if this accounting were strictly applied to the A380 then Airbus might have to show a _stupendous_ accounting loss on the A380ceo, report it to the stock market, take the hit finally and move on.

Moving on will not involve a risk like the A380neo. Ironically Boeings faffing about with accounting for the 747-8 programme might be what kills the A380 and it cannot do much good for the A400 either.
Whatever the SEC does to Boeing has no effect on Airbus Group SE because Airbus isn't listed on an american stock exchange.

Airbus shares already discount all possible scenarios, and when a risk was there of a temination of the program it affected the shares:

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-30427116

This program is old enough, regarding the numbers nobody will be surprised of anything, wich seems not to be the case of Boeing, the information was not discounted by the market, it was a surprise. Regarding accounting and accounting methods, if production has to be resumed, then the losses will affect the balance sheet, on the basis the market already expects in such a circunstance.

In the case of a neo version, the market will react when the data is there in terms of expected sales and cost involved, this numbers can't be a huge surprise neither.

Malaysia Airlines may decide to keep all its A380s instead of selling six of them off like it originally planned on doing:

Malaysia Airlines says delays Airbus A380 sale for two years at least

REUTERS - 15 FEBRUARY 2016 @ 3:02 PM

SINGAPORE:
Quote:
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has delayed plans to sell some of its Airbus A380 jumbo jets, and will now keep all six of them at least until 2018 after retiring its fleet of Boeing 777s, its chief executive told Reuters.

The Kuala Lumpur-based carrier has tried to unsuccessfully sell the planes for the last year to cut costs as part of a restructuring plan which also saw it withdraw from several long-haul European routes.

After accelerating the retirement of its much older Boeing 777-200 fleet, the airline has decided to keep the A380s in service until it gets the first of its new Airbus A350 widebody jets, Christoph Mueller said ahead of the Singapore Airshow. “We need them for the long haul market,” said Mueller of the A380s, which the airline flies only to London.

MAS is also evaluating if it needs two more A350s to add to the four that it will get from leasing companies, Mueller said, adding that these planes will serve medium-haul, intra-Asia Pacific routes that the airline will focus on as part of its post-restructuring strategy.

Mueller, an experienced industry executive, was hired to push through the restructuring at MAS in May 2015 after Malaysian national investment firm Khazanah took it private.

That is big news for the A380. Muller never changed his mind 'mid restructure' like that before now.

Probably not. Emirates already evaluated that and decided that they would rather have the 777-9.
Unless Emirates are planning on downgauging routes the 77Xs are for 772 and 77W replacement.
I don't see them buying too many more current A388s though, they will force Airbus to come up with the NEO.
Airbus don't obviously want to announce a NEO until they have to, the CEO isn't selling to well currently and a NEO will kill any more potential orders. Airbus don't want to see themselves in Boeings 777, 737 position struggling to bridge production until the newer varient comes online. The decision to NEO the A330 (well second time if you count the original A350 plan) was only taken after sales started to tail off and its more efficient competitor was starting to appear in large numbers.

Jet Airways might consider of buying A350-900 because they have A330-200 and A330-300 so they have some chance of buying A350XWB
