In my opinion this is really an ugly stadium. Many people love it but for me the roof is just awful.

The roof is very nice, but the floodlights dont fit in.

I would place the all along the roof structure and build a light cable bow on the other side of the stadium with lights all along too. That would give it more swing.

I would say the design is unique, roof all over will kill it a bit, floodlights on the roof and tall give you a feeling of old times, when Bayern Munich was a good football team .

Inside, aybe yes, but it fits perfectly into the landscape.

Its part of the environment / landscape and does not want to dominate it like many new "flash, blink blink" Arenas

Having been there in person, its easily the most integrated landscape/sports entertainment complex I've seen. Really one of the better integrated sites in any context. Its amazing how carefully constructed the landscape is and how seamlessly its flows with the venues. Really a phenomenal composition.

Yes I know the roof must have been really striking at the time, but they should have renewed it long time ago, especially because it doesn't cover one of the stands.

Well, I don't like the outside design either, but again that's just my opinion.

Obviously it is a very old bowl, but the roof is still striking, and as already said, it fits in well with its surroundings. The whole Olympiapark brings back fond memories of the World Cup fan fests back in 2006.

The competition in the late 1960ies was won by Behnisch & Partner. The young team joint the compitition last minute while nearly the model dissapeared by the parcel service. Inspired by the design for the German pavillon of Expo 67 Montreal by Frei Otto and Rolf Gutbord they formed their roof with a nylon stocking, not having a glimpse of an idea how to build it. Egon Eiermann, head of the Jury, recognized the power or the design and helped them to win the competition.
Later, Frei Otto helped the Team as constructive consultant. Important measurings and calculations were done in his institute in Stuttgart.

The costs for the bowl were 56.000.000 DM (29.000.000 €), for the roof construction 200.000.000 DM (101.000.000 €).....

I think most Bayern fans were praying for a proper football stadiums for years. Yes, the roof is nice, but now it's easy to appreciate the good things, truth be told, except for the roof the structure is kinda shite.
Like Breitner said, during his years it was different, people were willing to come and encourage their team even if the stands were miles away and there were no facilities. But as time passes people see there's room for better, and yeah, who the hell would ever choose to see a football game on a stadium with track than on one like Allianz.
I think it's Italy's turn to change stuff now and get rid of those dinosaurs, but the clubs seem unwilling to invest despite very low attendance while the state is going bankrupt and eventually Italy will be bought out by their ex-provinces and made a slave state olololol.
