Is the cauldron of the 1972 Olympiads still there?

Better said, Olympic Stadiums are built solely for Olympic Games lately, and even those are starting to be an overkill for most host cities...so yeah.
I think London 2012 should be an example for future hosts, y u don need Olympic stadiums for many things, other competitions are well held on smaller stadiums and you can keep the National Football/Rugby stadiums free of athletics track.

I've been at the Olympic Stadium and I have to say that the stadium has something special, climate and you can feel the history of sport events that took place there.

Like Breitner said, during his years it was different, people were willing to come and encourage their team even if the stands were miles away and there were no facilities. But as time passes people see there's room for better, and yeah, who the hell would ever choose to see a football game on a stadium with track than on one like Allianz.
I think it's Italy's turn to change stuff now and get rid of those dinosaurs, but the clubs seem unwilling to invest despite very low attendance while the state is going bankrupt and eventually Italy will be bought out by their ex-provinces and made a slave state olololol.
Italy? Well I can think of one off the top of my head, Stadio Olimpico. Removing the track essentially kills any potential Rome Olympics (in the future, not their bailed out bid for 2020). I suppose you could propose some sort of retractable system, but that would require a total conversion of the lower tier which would cost millions, possibly over a billion.

Munich's Olympiastadion needs renovations, in anticipation for a future Winter Olympics, possible return for the Summer Olympics and to serve a potential major side and the minor sides in Football.

Nobody said anything about Olimpico, that stadium can still exist... but Lazio and AS Roma should build stadiums like Juventus did and from then on problem solved.
Italy is very far behind countries like Spain, England or Germany and behind France soon to be far behind them and Russia since they are building for their new Euro.
It's shameful Eastern European countries have better stadium than Italy. Attendances are utterly low, Italy starts looking like a country where football is a dead culture, at least Juventus proved how to solve this, they had games with 300 people in the stands and now it's full, football ain't a show limited to some low to lower medium class lads working on construction sites and shipyards that keep other away, now it's full of women, kids...people of all type that fill stadiums.

Shameful that eastern European countries have better stadiums than Italy?
Why? Is Italy superior to eastern European countries?
Italy is so advanced compared to Ukraine?

I don't know why you bother to answer to someone who claims Russia is hosting the Euro...

I didn't say Russia is hosting the Euro, I was referring to France, I only inserted Russia later in the sentence and it looked messed up, but Russia are building those stadiums with or without the World Cup, since the clubs are investing their own money for some.
And lmao about Ukraine similar to Italy, next Pakistan is at the same level as the US or Sudan's economy is just beyond U.K's .

It's shameful because Italy has one of the biggest leagues in Europe with a fantastic heritage and history, and is a multiple World Cup winner. In footballing terms, Italy is superior to Eastern European countries. I don't think there's anything controversial or wrong in saying that. It just shows Italy is punching well, well below its weight in terms of modern stadium infrastrcuture, that's all.

One of the best ever stadiums in my top ten..its the simplicity of the bowl (the fact its not an exact bowl just adds to the beauty) in contrast with the even now some 40 years later space age roof..some stadiums just have it and this stadium has it. Such a shame its noe second fiddle to Allianz but at least they didnt demolish it unlike my beloved old wembley!

The summer games will never return to Munich, the next german city to host summer games will be Berlin, i guess the city will bid for the 2028 or 2032 games.

No, if the cauldron still exists it must be somewhere in a dusty storage...

Today's Women's Champions League final at the Olympiastadion set a new attendance record for women club matches in Europe at 50,212. And it will see more busy days ahead with the upcoming 'Match of the Legends' on Saturday, the Public Viewings of the Champions League final and the German matches of the Euro 2012 plus the DTM race in July.

It's hardly a white elephant, it served the city of Munich for over 35 years.

And he could have found the answer in my post before his. Years ago the Olympiapark GmbH didn't make profit after the exit of both clubs. However I believe they turned this in a more positive light in the recent years. It certainly sees many events, concerts, tourist tours each year so...the term white elephant doesn't apply to the stadium IMO.

his turn of phrase was definitely wrong.. this stadium would've paid itself off many years ago so there is hardly any reason to demolish what is rights considered a piece of art.
