Interesting, I wonder what those resources tell us about its geographical history. In Bosnia there is a city; Tuzla/Soli, which salt resources and settlements around them were documented by Greek writers some 3000 years ago. It also has extensive salt mines, but they have not been contineously running for that long :P .

In that city there is a problem with the city literally sinking at the rate of millimeters each year, into the mines beneath the city, something that has cost the existence of many older structures. Does this occur in the Polish cities with mines also? I read that some of those really old mines in Poland are used for underground facilities, practically making it an underground city.

Beautiful river photographs by the way. Good lighting, the focus seems a bit close though.
