I think Chicago has that balance I have yet to seen in any city in the world. The skyline is very graceful in the sense that there is harmony whereas NYC seems very chaotic. However, I still think NYC has the better skyline.

The balance will be restored once the new WTC is finished.

I think chicago skyline is the best..To me although I love New Yorks skyline I some how believe theres just a lot if concrete high rising concrete houses.. Some just dont look like skyscrapers. There very beautiful and unique but theres not a lot of glass or alumnum to the skyline.. But hopefull When the Wtc 1,2,3. come it changes that. But i will always love both cities and skylines but one a little over the other.

Chicago probably has the best post-war buildings of the two, but prewar New York wins, IMHO.

great pictures. of the two cities, id say chicago's is more aesthetically pleasing and balanced whereas new york's is more imposing and impressive.

One of these cities I am visiting in March and consider the top urban destination in the world, and the other I may be in in July or August and plan to spend my life after university in.

Both cities are pure eyecandy, especially at night.

And maybe in the winter. Anybody with some decent snowy shots?

Lol no realistically Chicago ins both. If chicago looks good in pictures then imagine in reality.. I think NYC is amazing but in my opinion can't be compared to Chicago.

Realistically? Lol, you mean in your opinion. Maybe you should visit an Art Deco thread and find out where the most beautiful and also tallest pre war towers are located... begin with this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor..._New_York_City

There's absolutely no contest here. NY dwarfs Chicago by a large margin in terms of pre war buildings. And this is not an opinion, this is a fact.

Thank you HK. NYs prewar buildings are unmatched by any city in the world, period. 1 Wall, 40 Wall, 20 Exchange, American International, Chrysler, ESB, GE Building, the Rock, American Radiator, the Waldorf... People are entitled to their own opinion, but people on this forum often parade blatant bias as their own informed personal opinion.

I'm more than willing to admit Chicago has a more pleasing skyline to look at than NYs, but to say Chicago has better prewar buildings is crazy.

if someone thinks they are better, its not crazy, its simply their own opinion. simple as that.
