Legoland Water Park to open in October as next phase of expansion

COMING SOON: Image shows the site for the Legoland Water Park that is
slated to open on October 21. The interactive and fully Lego themed Water
Park will offer more than 20 unique slides, and over 70 LEGO models among its many attractions.

KUCHING: Legoland Malaysia embarks on yet another milestone with the announcement of the official opening for Legoland Water Park, set to be ready by October.

According to a press release, the Legoland Water Park is scheduled to open on October 21, 2013 and is the next phase in the Legoland Malaysia Resort plans that will consist of the Theme Park, Water Park and Hotel.

A Legoland Hotel will open early next year.

The interactive and fully LEGO themed Water Park will offer more than 20 unique slides, and over 70 LEGO models among its many attractions.

Some of the highlights include the popular Build-A-Raft River and Joker Soaker.

The first is a unique concept where children can customise their own raft with soft LEGO bricks before floating down a lazy river.

The latter is a fun interactive platform in the wade pool where children can play with water cannons as a Lego jester model ‘tells’ jokes while 350 gallons of water pour down upon them.

This will be the largest Legoland Water Park when opened and it will also be the first to have a second gate, which means it can be enjoyed separately or in combination with the Theme Park.

Siegfried Boerst, general manager of Legoland Malaysia Resort said that the addition would mean families want to make more visits and stay longer.

“The Water Park will add a whole new dimension to the Legoland Malaysia experience. In total, Legoland Malaysia Resort will have more than 70 rides, slides, shows and attractions. This is a unique holiday destination for the entire family to enjoy. It will offer adventure, education and fun for action-packed day trips or longer breaks,” Boerst explained.

Starting early August 2013, limited numbers of Premium Annual Pass will go on sale. The Pass is valid for both the new Water Park and the Theme Park and will cost RM395. It can be used for 12 months at any time during normal operating hours including weekends, public and school holidays.

Current Annual Pass holders can also upgrade their Pass to the Premium Annual Pass and information will be updated on the website soon. Visitors will be able to buy Combo Day Tickets in advance online that will allow them entry into both parks.

The much awaited Legoland Water Park will also feature two restaurants, private cabanas for rent and a retail store on-site.

Successful Iskandar
SIM BAK HENGPublished: 2013/12/10
http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_New...cle/index_html

TOURISM MAGNETS: Hotels and theme parks to contribute to region's economic growth, says Najib

THE opening of Traders Hotel, Puteri Harbour Indoor Theme Park and Legoland Resort Malaysia reflects the success in developing Iskandar Malaysia as a tourism and business destination, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, here, yesterday.

Since their opening in June, Traders Hotel and the Puteri Harbour theme park have welpropelcomed 90,000 visitors.

The Legoland Malaysia Theme Park, which opened more than a year ago, has played host to about two million visitors, Najib said when opening the 283-room Traders Hotel.

Traders Hotel is owned and developed by Destination Resorts and Hotel Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Earlier, Najib, who is also Khazanah chairman, chaired the 69th Khazanah board of directors’ meeting at Traders Hotel.

Meanwhile,in his speechat the opening of the 249-room Legoland Hotel, Najib said Iskandar Malaysia has recorded committed investmentsof almost RM130 billion in various sectors as of
October.

Of the total RM129.44 billion investments, 35 per cent are from foreigners.

His speech was read by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The manufacturing sector contributed RM45.68billion, followed by properties(RM33.66billion), government spending (RM8.31 billion)
and others, including utilities, emerging technologies, tourism, education, healthcare, finance, logistics, retail and industry (RM41.78 billion).

Najib said the huge amount of foreign investments is a testament of the growing trust and confidence in the various projects’ sustainability and Malaysia’s stability.

“I am also pleased to announce that 44 per cent of the total committed investments, or RM56.32 billion, have been realised up to October this year.”

"A lot have been achieved but much more needs to be done if Iskandar Malaysia is to achieve its 2025 target of having a population of three million, 1.46 million jobs and a cumulative investment of RM383 billion over 20 years.

"The Federal Government is committed to ensuring the success of Iskandar Malaysia and we are working with the Johor government, the private and public sectors, and the people of Johor to ensure the economic region's growth."

Najib is thankful that Iskandar Malaysia is well and truly off the ground and the people are starting to see growth taking shape in the economic region.

"It is vital to ensure that projects are successfully completed on time and within the budget to build investor and public confidence in Iskandar Malaysia and attract more investments.

"This will generate a momentum that will bring about multiplier effects and sustainable economic activities."

The development of Iskandar Malaysia is now into the second phase of its 20-year development period.

I'm sure there is something much more interesting in Malaysian culture than Legoland. Why import the most kitschy aspects of other cultures?
