The latest photos are great. The two pics from the bridge- what part of the city is this? I haven't seen that part of town photographed before. Some interesting and modern architecture. Certainly better than the boring, glass cubes they're building in Canada
Go Warsaw.

Muranow - northern part of the city, near Intraco I and North Gate highrises.

Thanks. Keep up the good work. How often do you go into Warsaw to take pics like this? Check out the Praga district for us. I hear there is much revitalization going on there. Is this true?
Also, a more important question. The Saxon Palace (Palac Saski), is this building going to be reconstructed in the next few years? They have not totally abandoned this project?

That was a business trip... photography was just an addition... (well ok, for me it's a priority )... but there wasn't much time to take photos... anyway I'm planning to go to Warsaw on my own... this summer... we will see... there's a lot more to capture... there's a lot more to show...

That's a good question... but we really don't know... I wouldn't say it's abandoned but rather postponed... To be honest I don't expect to see it finished before 2015... but who knows...

They have to rebuild this palace. It's beautiful and if they don't rebuild it eventually, than the Nazi's win.

Awesome pictures. I don't think that Warsaw was a modern city.
People like me, that are far away from these kind of city always think that east Europe cities were oldies and has old architecture.

I would like to visit Warsaw! Nice city! Represent the new European economy, I think so.

You're absolutely right...it will be rebuilt even if the Polish community has to raise money amongst Polonia like for the rebuilding of the Royal Castle.

Warsaw is and will be in the future a mix of old and new which I kind of like. Berlin decided to go really modern and they do have some innovative structures. But of course so does Warsaw. They have potential for one of the best skylines in Europe.

The decision to rebuild or preserve some pre WW II structures and buildings was the best decision Warsaw made following the war. The Old Town, Castle Square and the Royal Route would be a couple of good examples. Can Berlin brag about sites like this?

Well, they do have some very nice quarters, but just as Warsaw, it was bombed to pieces at the end of WWII. And that it was devided didn't help the reconstruction, either.
But they're doing well, now, with some very nice structures. But both are lovely.

Yeah . . . I wouldn't mind checking out Berlin one day. But I live in Toronto. Not exactly a city that thinks outside the box in terms of architecture.
And I was in Warsaw in 2007.

It's not that the building itself is ugly (for some it surely is), but it's all because for many people living here this building is a symbol of Soviet dominance of Poland.

The Poles shouldn't let that bother them so much. The architect of this building went around Poland to absorbs some of the local designs/architecture and the designs on this building were inspired by what he saw (so I've read). So in many ways this building is still very Polish.

That's still not the thing. The problem is by whom the building was sponsored.
And it's previous name: Józef Stalin's Palace of Culture and Science.

Some people still have problem with that - but for younger generation it's just a symbol of Warsaw, not of stalinism.
