Yes they are but in the Big One they won't survive or just the strongest buildings and then if a tsunami come they won't

A friend of mine tweeted "Structural engineers should be offended by how flimsy this makes their work look", in response to that movie.

You are joking right? All new skyscrapers in LA and SF are designed to withstand any earthquake California can throw at it. Old masonry buildings would likely collapse, sure, but skyscrapers would be fine. And a tsunami could never reach downtown LA or San Francisco Don't believe what you see in the movies

See California Tsunami Inundation Map: http://www.conservation.ca.gov/cgs/g...wide_Maps.aspx

thank for answering.

This issue was discussed on the previous page of this thread.

San Andreas is a Hollywood movie, not a documentary.

Skyscrapers wont collapse. The ground wont open up during a quake. It wont be felt in the east coast. No tsunami. Just a lot of money for Dwayne Johnson.

You guys still on that one? Drop it, it was just a casual mention that the half-built WG comes up in the movie. Sheesh!

Except it's actually a tower in San Francisco, not the Wilshire Grand Tower, lol

Many of the older buildings were retro fitted.
