That first image just shows the sheer mass of buildings currently under construction in Downtown. Believe it or not there are 19 cranes in that photo. Some are obstructed but still slightly visible. Try and find them all

With Circa and Fig Central done with digging we should see another 6+ cranes with their lots.

I drove by the site yesterday (Sunday), went to have lunch with friends in Koreatown, no picture does it justice; it is just impressive live.

The last one looks like it was taken from Angeles Crest Hwy.

I was about to ask the same question, but with the core jump today, Wilshire Grand is officially taller than her neighbor PWC which stands at 717 feet.

Gorgeous photographs. Love seeing this thing rise. Is it going to be an official tallest west of the Mississippi River?

Technically yes. 934 to the roof, 1000 to the parapet, and 1,100 to top it all off with the spire. While it won't be the tallest to the roof it'll still be the official tallest thanks to the spire.

The second tallest going up is the Salesforce tower in San Fran. That one will go 912 to the roof, and 1070 with its parapet. So as it stands right now, the US Bank tower will still retain the highest roof at 1018 but officially be behind both the Wilshire Grand and Salesforce.

Parapets count towards final official height right?

There is no "official" rule. The US Bank is still the highest in my view since it has the highest regularly used area. This avoids the whole issue of sticking another 10 feet of concrete or piping to become taller than your neighbor.

Yes to your'e question. 1st comes spires. Then parapet height is counted over roof height in building height.

And of course if Seattle gets the current plan for 4th and Columbia built, it'll be the undisputed number 1, at 1111 ft -- with a flat roof, so no question about spires or parapets.
