Yes, perfect angle. I just hope they continue developing DTLA and cleaning it up. It has such a great potential.

Wilshire Grand Center Rising into Los Angeles' Skyline

Quote:
New photos from architectural photographer Hunter Kerhart reveal the swift construction progress of what will soon be the tallest building in Los Angeles. The 73-storey Wilshire Grand Center is well on its way to an eventual height of 1,100 feet, and the building's distinctive sail-shaped massing is now visible from many points around the Greater Los Angeles area. The Wilshire Grand Center's impressive height will eventually surpass not just every other building in Los Angeles, but every American building west of the Mississippi River.

Although the US Bank Tower is taller in terms of roof height, the WGC is going to be about 25m taller because of its spire.

The height of the building will count the spire, so it will surpass the height of the US Bank Tower.

That's true. It will look shorter then US Bank though. It's a pitty they couldn't just build truly highest building on the West coast. Anyways I like this building a lot of course.

My dream would be for someone to resurrect the 1200 ft. Gensler design that was going to go up in Seattle and build it in DTLA -- with a slender, glassy, sail-shaped design it would be a perfect pairing with Wilshire Grand.

It is still 1,100' to the top spire. The BK is the tallest in the world and it has a 400' spire that turns into a hollow 5' pole that is included in it's 2,717' height. The top floor is 2,100' I believe.

True, but in due fairness, the spire on the Burj is integrated into the building, while this buildings' spire is basically a stick on a roof. I have no problem with an integrated spire counting as part of the official height, but a stick on a flat roof is stretching it.

They are all under the same intent. Intigrated into the design of the building. The size and placement doesn't affect the definition of a spire. There are so many tall buildings with them with so many shapes and sizes. Almost every tallest building in the world seems to use one and get extra height from one. Some people call the top floor the final height.
