Yes , in the Greater Los Angeles area there's plenty of raw land available for development but that's exactly the point I was making . In L.A. proper , there is no land left except for maybe some small pockets here and there and brownfield sites . That means that since there's no room left , L.A.'s sprawl has simply been transferred to adjacent communities (which are themselves basically products of L.A.'s sprawl)

I don't like the idea of the office tower being delayed... but who would? I'm not a big fan of the design but I know it'll look cool once it goes up.

...even though the antenna is "bigger" than the spire. Which is why it's not fair that the Sears Tower antennas don't count. They're like rockets.

Antennas don't count because they're add ons. Imagine a 600 foot tall building, installing a 2000 foot antenna. 20 years after it completion for record breaking purposes.

And perhaps that is the reason they are now building more high rises and taller structures or at least there are some in the planning for near future.

LA is known for quirky architecture so I don't think that'll be the case.

I don't really like the building, but I like the idea of LA having another supertall

And I hope that the quirkiness will stay on for a long time so we will only see exciting projects rising!

Any updates on this thing? Wish Trump would add another building to the mix, heck I wish anyone would add another building to the mix.

Ah! I was just wondering if there was any new information about the Grand Wilshire and then I was wishing someone would add some more skyscrapers to the downtown skyline, like this Wilshire. It would be nice if Donald Trump--this guy who has built some large buildings in NYC and Chicago--would build one here.

I'm so glad you let us know who Donald Trump is. Never heard of the guy, wouldn't spend the time to Google him either.

An addition to this complex by someone other than the owner won't happen. I'll be surprised if this complex actually gets built in the next 10 years, at least the office tower, because the demand for office space downtown is not very great at this point in time.

The hotel will close in December. Demolition will start soon after. The building(s) won't technically start construction until around 2013 with completion in 2016.
