This video makes it seem like LA metro easily dwarfs that of NY

Then you have boom towns like Seattle which are also building like mad. Crazy good times for American cities!
Washington? What's going up there? They height limits. A new tallest at 225 feet!!

Just across the river, in Northern Virginia.

That is taken south of Century City. Even south of the 10 Fwy.

Now I'm curious too. It's a little too far south to be Century City. It might be from the top of the Baldwin Hills scenic overlook (aka the Culver stairs), although you'd need a killer zoom for that too. My best guess would be somewhere in Crenshaw or Adams.

WOW, that picture on the post #2902! If you open it on the maximum resolution is astonishing.

And from the picture of the post #2888, yes, it was taken from the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area / Baldwin Hills / View Park-Windsor Hills area.
The Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is open to the public and have an overlooking place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennet...ecreation_Area.
Altough I think that particular picture was taken from the guy's house, in one of the surrounding neighborhoods.

Here's a picture taken from the park with the same angle, but older, with Wilshire Grand not in construction yet.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:L..._telephoto.jpg

And here's a panoramic view from the park. It is pretty old, The Ritz Carlton wasn't there yet, but you can see a pretty good view of Downtown and the West Side of Los Angeles in it.

Some times I forget, how much sprawl exists in LA County.

Great photos PinPeat and CCs77! Really shows off how wilshire blvd. works as the "spine" of the westside of the city.

So curious if anyone has the answer, would the tip of the crane in the photo above be a good measure of the final height of the "sail" above the tower? I read that they have one more core jump to go, then the sail will add another 100 ft or so to the height and then the 100 ft of the spire to reach the final height of 1100 ft. Thanks!

Thanks for this info. I have checked on Google maps and you are right. It seems that the Kenneth Hahn SRP is probably better than the Baldwin Hills viewing according to Google.

I shall be staying in LA in June so will check it out. What I need is a really clear day (to see the mountains beyond) and a good zoom! The former might be difficult to achieve for the middle of summer.
