But those in Chicago are more on the opposite side of a bigger skyline, these two are near each other in the center of the skyline.

Wow, it's amazing how fast this building has sprung up in the past few months!

The Wilshire Grand Tower and the US Bank Tower will go well together in Los Angeles, just like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building goes well together in NYC, and also the Willis Tower and John Hancok Tower goes well together in Chicago.

Any word on the second tower that was supposed to be part of this development?

It will really stand out on the skyline as it is the only tower with a non-flat roof

All the new towers are making a huge impact on the skyline. Phase two of metropolis is gonna close a big gap.

if that's the case, I hope all the buildings on this street will not be touched.

What is wrong with this downtown LA district? I have never been there in person, but from the pictures it looks just fine to me. The historic buildings are gorgeous!

The old buildings are great (and from a development standpoint basically untouchable) but the stores are uniformly scuzzy, and it's basically dead after dark.

Yeah, just to go off what MarshallKnight said, it's not that I want these buildings to be replaced. obviously they are gorgeous. However, they have fallen into disrepair from years of neglect from their landlords. What I meant was the jewelry district is ripe for a wave of new investment that will take these historic buildings and restore them to their former glory, and draw in a higher end clientele than currently frequents the area.

Meanwhile, the WG doesn't need any cleaning up -- looking glorious and imposing in the fog tonight.
