Yeah that's the one. The taller of the two would have been roughly 1250' and the two-tower configuration was ultimately scrapped in favor of this one.

Yes, it started as a two tower proposal that included a 1,250' office tower and 750' hotel tower. It was later announced that the hotel would be built first, followed by the office tower "when the market improves". But then the whole project was redesigned into the single mixed use building that's rising now.

Yeah.. design wise it's way better. Sad about the height reduction.. but ultimately doesn't disrupt so much LA's skyline.

I can tell that the Wilshire Grand Tower will possibly beat the height of the US Bank Tower and become the tallest building in the entire Los Angeles metropolitan area, California, and the western US.

Only if you count the pointed stick they will place on the top of it.....which unfortunately the official height determining gods will do.

Why are you so unhappy about it? LA has needed a new tallest for a long time and its finally getting one. Not just that, but it will be the best-looking building in LA as well

That is One Santa Fe! It's actually an apartment complex, designed by Michael Maztlan Architecture.

http://www.osfla.com

It sits in the heart of the current "hippest part" of downtown los angeles: the Arts District. It no doubt evokes a train station as it sits right on the rail yard adjacent to the la river, and in fact there are plans down the line to have a subway stop for the arts district added right at the entrance of one santa fe. (and really the only thing the district needs to complete its hipster portfolio is a subway stop.)

We like to call it the great wall of the arts district. It's basically a skyscraper laying down. Insanely huge project.

Just not a fan of pointed sticks constituting "tallest". Cheers
