Visit India sometime. We're a LONG way from 3rd world. Trust me.

You can cherry pick the worst parts of America all you like, but there are about as many people living in poverty in India as there are Americans in total. And poverty in India isn't tent cities just outside the downtown core. It's open sewers and disease and an infant mortality rate seven times higher than the US.

Don't insult the real problems of the third world by pretending shabby houses in New Orleans are even remotely comparable.

I'm not saying that everyone reaches the american dream, but these several tents are nowhere near the massive slums in 3rd world countries where hundreds of thousands live in unimaginable conditions.

OK, sure. Tell that to the people in Flint drinking sewage. I'm just pointing out that there are people in our country living in abhorrent conditions, and we do them a disservice by pretending they don't exist. How is that an insult to the people of India?

So true. And I wasn't India bashing as I love to visit and think that the food is out of this world. Have been many, many times. After the first few visits, the shock wears off including the cows roaming around . There is absolutely no comparison to anything in the USA visually or otherwise, and your stats are spot on. Imagine the USA and everything in it living in grinding poverty from west to east, north to south, EVERYTHING. That would be India's poor. But the youth (everywhere) and vitality can't be matched. They are going places and they know it, and will get there eventually.

Can we all just please stop talking about poverty? This has gone off-topic and the discussion should be ended. We are here to talk about a very good-looking skyscraper, not how poor America is compared to India.
