Ha, I agree, but I was more practical: I figured KAL can charge Pepsico and put them on one side.

It doesn't say "AEG" over at Staples Center.
Both Dodgers and Angels have figured out that putting your OWN name is a better play: the name recognition is worth more than the money.

Staples is a consumer brand name; AEG isn't. No one says "let's go to an AEG event tonight!".

It's an "assault pad" that allows people to be dropped off or picked up by a helicopter. The helicopter cannot land.

It actually has no office tenants yet.

Huh, good info (even if the term "assault pad" has some worrying connotations)! I'd long wondered how such a tiny pad was supposed to support a helicopter, so this explains a lot.

So if this is the extent to which the LAFD is willing to compromise on their helipad rule, we should probably expect that LA's more adventurously-designed future skyscrapers will still be at least partially flat-topped.

not necessarily, its an emergency supply drop pad, for firefighting equipment, due to its tiny footprint, i think architects can pull off a non flat roof, if you don't count the last floor of this building, not to much of this crown is flat, not only that, if the LAFD chopper pilots are as good as the ones that operated off the helo carrier i was on in the navy, that tiny spot is no problem

Why you have to cut me off at each pass Pestie?

I guess. But Airlines are way more volatile, they spent a pretty penny here, they would it need it back right away.

Found this on ACMartins website...... THE SPIRE!

http://www.acmartin.com/story/wilshi...ng-las-skyline

As the iconic sail structure nears completion at the top of the Wilshire Grand tower, fabrication for the spire and beacon are currently underway at Valmont in Nebraska. The spire extends 172-feet above the top of the sail, bringing the overall height of the Wilshire Grand to 1,100-feet, making it the tallest structure west of Chicago. At the top of the spire sits a beacon that will be lit internally by an array of RGB LED lights; recently, the design team made a trip out to Ontario, California for a review of the beacon – an 18-foot tall structure of perforated stainless steel.

That's what I call a real spire. It will embelish the top of the building and will add a new dimension to LA's skyline.
Greaaat.

This photo was taken from Dodger Stadium; the parking lots are in the foreground, and just over that little bluff would be Angelino Heights or maybe the western edge of Chinatown.

From SSP. Spire base has been attached. The spire itself was en route to LA today.
