Its not a flagpole for one obvious reason, there's no flag that gets hoisted up on it ...

Given my penchant for skyscraper cosplay, I've found myself contemplating a Fox Plaza/John McClane mashup. Done right, it might be quite interesting and lots of fun!

Totally agree. It's not the tallest in my view with a cheat stick

Beautiful building! That hunk of pipe should have been the mast for the sail structure. Some diagonal structural elements coming down from the pipe to the sail would have been cool. Would have interfered with the helipad though. Is the pad really needed today with the advances in fire protection? Usually only a floor burns out, unless struck by an airliner. The section of pipe strapped on to the top looks a little goofy as it is. imo

It was just a joke, but let's be clear, while Bruce Willis is more famous than his McClane character, the fictitious Nakatomi Plaza is FAR more famous than the real Fox Plaza (and more fun). The Nakatomi Plaza is "The" Nakatomi Plaza, Fox Plaza is like whatever.. End of the OT.

Goodness, what a lot of torturous rationale for what was a pretty oblique quip on my part.

The idea was to hat-tip the Fox Plaza for those who understand the connection--like an inside joke--as opposed to directly naming the fictitious Nakatomi which defeats that purpose. Get it? No? Never mind.

Notice the cranes. With all the stuff currently going up in South Park, the bulk of the skyline will essentially be connected to the USC tower on the far right.

I haven't visited this thread for some time, but ... the thing happened so fast ...cannot believe it!!

(Are those renderings above, or this thing is really completed???)

I think the best aspect about this building is that it doesn't try too hard to become the most representative building in the skyline, I mean it does have a spire (which I think should be shorter), but still fits in the skyline perfectly, more importantly, it leaves space for future projects to become, or deserve that sort of epithet.
