Even still, it will give me something to look at as I drive by on my way to work and give LA a new supertall that will be a fine addition to the skyline.

Pics from today of the to be demolished hotel:

peeking in the front window. Lots of furniture piled up inside to be sold off.

If that hotel is going down, I don't think they leave the palm trees.
Do you prefer those trees before the project?

They will dismantle the hotel floor by floor in June. Construction would begin next Spring. Construction would most likely be done somewhere in 2016.

Gosh, they need to release renders. But I don't mind waiting if it means an impressive design.

Why is there a height limit imposed for downtown Los Angeles?

That's just the height that this proposal was approved for. I'm not aware of any height limits in DTLA.

It is the US Bank Tower (also in LA) and no, if it was over 381 m, the Wilshire wouldn't have a chance of getting the title. It's 310.3 m.

Ah cool thanks for the info, so when I next visit LA in 2014 there should be quite a bit for me to see?

I'd imagine by then, along with Wilshire Grand, that Farmers Field, Courtyard Marriott, Francisco St, LA Central, The Courthouse, 9th, and Olive, and The Old Spaghetti tower would be under construction by then. Civic Park would be done so you should drop by there, and i'm sure the Broad would be done.
