It's hard to explain why, but with the addition of this building, Los Angeles has suddenly become one of my favorite skylines in the country.

It might be because it now has a sort of trapezoidal downtown core, like that of Minneapolis and Pittsburgh, only its a bit bigger and with a smog-electric, mountain backdrop.

Or maybe because now it holds my attention with not one but two tall attractive buildings. Like all the skyline's filler buildings were just waiting for a second icon to take the lead, and now with the Wilshire they finally have it.

In short, the Wilshire is a pretty good design by itself but its integration with the skyline as a whole, moves it up from good to excellent.

Pair the visual prominence of this building with the future expansion along Figueroa to the south with all of those multi-tower developments, and I'm loving LA right now.

WG, Ritz Carlton and Metropolis all making their impact on the skyline. And in another 5 years, the changes should (hopefully) be even greater!

Yeah, I wasn't sure just how different the famous view from Kenneth Hahn would actually be, so I mocked up most of the largest projects. Definitely some missing here, but should give you an idea.

Either a troll published incorrect data or LA might have a great addition to its skyline.

The parcel is being sold for development of a high-rise but that seems a bit lofty.

Someone seems to have just made up a number or just heard a rumor and went with it.

The Angel's Knoll figures are pretty much fiction. The remainder of the list will add some nice density to downtown.

The spire is the only reason why Wilshire Grand is listed as taller than U.S. Bank Tower. U.S. Bank Tower is actually the taller building.
