Build a 1300' foot tower (roof level) and stick a massive spire that will add another 200'. The tower will be at a complete height of 1500' that way we can't argue about the US Bank Tower or Wilshire Grand being the tallest.

Glad to see the tower is along, but still not a fan of the overall design.

It's amazing how spread out that last photo makes LA's skyline look.

Funny how that perception always pops up. The LA basin and the valleys that dot it are actually chaparral, semi-arid. The desert is over the mountains.

The untouched Santa Monica mountains are a good reference of what the LA basin looked like during Native American times before the Spanish arrived.

Low or short brush, and small-to medium sized trees.

The mountains separate the deserts from the coastal basins and valleys which receive moisture from the Pacific Ocean, giving us Mediterranean weather.

Good info.

But I've never imagined the LA area as true sandy, rocky desert studded with cacti. I meant it in the semi-arid sense, much like the old term for the Great Plains, The Great American Desert, was used in the 19th century.

LA's relatively verdant aspect is obviously man-made courtesy of all that water from up north. That's what I was getting at.

I wonder if all those palms could have grown in an un-irrigated basin. Maybe. Certainly not those orange trees.

It's a glorious achievement to make such an area habitable by so many millions.
