All indications are that it is happening soon. The old Wilshire Grand (once Statler Hilton) hotel has been closed and so have surrouning shops; furnishings have been removed. Demo is supposed to start this summer and last maybe 6 months (it's a block sized 15 story building).

Final height and design haven't been released, as far as I know, but 1000 ft. plus still seems likely. Korean Air has been a bit vague through most of the process, sometimes complaining that that the city is dragging its feet.

That was posted on their facebook page in June. Hopefully they've made a little more progress by now...

The height looks about the same to that of the original proposal, plus there's a barely-visible spire on there. I think this will be LA's new tallest!

I like the second from left to right ... but also the third from right to left

Something majestic will fit in LA's skyline.

When I visit LA, I always love to hang out downtown and enjoy the towers

Well that's a shame that it goes from 6 months to over a year.

Very nice concept! Add a spire and we're topping out the West!

I'd actually like to see a more angular and/or boxy tower. It'll fit well with Los Angeles and most of California in general. Well, except San Francisco.
