Hopefully, this dude's wife doesn't see this photo! He's looking at her like a wolf looks at fresh meat!

Folks. I can hardly believe that being just a few feet from obtaining the title of tallest building in LA and west of Chicago, that they wont do it. It's inconceivable. it's un-American .

there only calling it 2nd tallest because it has less floors, less floors doesnt mean less height, im 99% positive it will be over 1000 ft official height, probally in the 900's for roof i suppose?

definetely around 980 - 1010 ft to the roof based on the renders, 1,110 ft to the crown, and around 1,200 ft to the top of the spire.

They proposed a 1,250 ft tower just a few years after 9/11 and now this nonsense? Do. Not. Buy.

That said, it may not be the tallest by roof height, I wouldn't expect that, but with a spire, it could easily exceed the US Bank Tower.

I'm putting all my chips on that too, because so many things get lost in translation.

Wow, I'm so excited about this building.

Being that this is a sure thing and demolition has started in the site, should it still be in "Proposed"?

It will move to the construction forum when the first part of the actual tower has been built.

Hey folks it me and just wanted to say that I'm sorry for any wrong misunderstanding comments I said before I was just disappointed with all the new changes with this new design I been living in L.A and since the 80's,90's and on till now I've been wanting to see something more exciting like our down town having nice new designs and yes of course even taller ones too but ever since the economy got **** up and I guess blame it for it I just hear new designs are not approved and they end up having some mediocre small shity shit but I hope this new tower will bring wunders and excitement and if any have accurate renderings and new pictures please post them would be nice to see them...thanks!

The new design sucks compared to the old one! Why the change?

Seriously? Already asked and answered like 3 times.

To summarize: the original plan called for 2 towers. A shorter, residential, tower that would house the new Wilshire Grand Hotel, bachelor lofts, etc. The taller tower was to be strictly for commercial use.

Those providing the money eventually came to the conclusion that they had grossly overcompensated the demand for office space in downtown (they likely couldn't find willing anchor tenants), so a new design was developed to combine the utility of both original towers into 1 large, mixed-purpose tower. This new design will now contain the hotel, residential apartment space, and office space.

Reasons that minor changes were made to the facade of the "tall" towers between old and new proposals are unknown. Sorry you don't think it looks nice; perhaps be grateful the city is getting anything at all.

well with the hundreds of proposed towers ive seen for Los Angeles over the past four decades, i'll beleve this is going up when i see iron from the 110, and if it is actually built , let's face it anything 900' or taller will dominate that section of the skyline, as for the lighting, I'd like to see something along the lines of Wachovia/Wells Fargo tower in Charlotte

Wilshire Grand Tower, edited into a Google Earth screen capture. Made by Dylan Leblanc of SSP.

Not definitive, but it does point to the roof heights of the US Bank tower and the Wilshire Grand being similar, with the spire pushing the Wilshire Grand quite a bit higher.

well, we have to remember that the Library tower sits on a small hill. i would say the elevation may be close to 50 - 100 feet difference

based on this i predict 334 meters to the crown, and 367 meters to the spire, judging that in the picture the base of the USBT is close to the top floor of the western cylindrical part of the westin bonaventure hotel
