Not for long. If no "superstructure" is added, the Transbay tower will top out at 1,070', 30 feet shorter than the Wilshire Grand. It would be the tallest on the west coast for only a year or so, until Wilshire Grand gets completed.

Yep, same story as the Chrysler Building on the other coast.

So that article was edited today.

Quote:
Asked about the Wilshire Grand, the communications
team for the Transbay Joint Powers Authority at first stuck to its position that the Transbay tower will be taller. Spokesman Adam Alberti even claimed San Francisco's new skyscraper will be significantly higher than 1,070 feet. He later acknowledged this was incorrect.

With all the height arguments aside, I still like the old renders better. An angular crown fits L. A. more than a curved one.

Looks like deconstruction will occur simultaneously on both the 7th and Wilshire sides. They've carved off two floors on 7th street, with only one floor gone on Wilshire.

I don't know why you local skyscraper lovers aren't downtown everyday volunteering to help knock that thing down. Ya know!

There's about seven floors left on the taller parts of the structure until it's at ground level.

Thats 1000 Wilshire aka Woodbush Center. One of my favorite buildings in LA.... only down side is street presence is non-existent on Francisco st just solid walls and parking entrances.

That's the problem with most of the skyscrapers in the financial district. They were built mostly for getting office workers in and out of the area without thinking about pedestrian activity.

It looks very great. A nice addition to the LA skyline.
