Looks like the hole has reached final depth, in the area of the tower base, the white 10yard cement mixer is at the approx. center of the core, or building footprint, still can't tell what type of foundation system will be used, but by the end of next week, this thread will be listed as Under Construction, look for chalk lines, laying out the footings could start at any moment.

Wow, nice tower!
Excuse my ignorance in terms of Los Angeles, but roughly how far away will this building be from the Bank of America tower?

I think it is considered to be under construction only if they start work on the foundation. These pictures posted here are showing that they're still digging the hole and haven't start construction yet. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Precisely. Once we see Iron this will move over. Should be expecting it soon. They've reached the bottom, so now they have to clear the area out and we will see the steel rise.

The current B of A Tower, 333 Hope st. (btw 3rd & 4th st's) is 3 blocks N/W and 1 block (Fig,Flower,Hope) S/E of this building.

333 Hope st. was constructed for the Security Pacific National Bank in 1973/4, was the third tower of the Bunker Hill Redevelopment Project, with 1 million s,f, rentable, and 55 floors.

B of A's building prior to 333 Hope, was the south tower of the Atlantic Richfield Plaza, or Arco towers, Arco occupied the north tower, built in 1970/1, and the first 2 buildings in Los Angeles with over 50 floors.

Let's leave it at the discretion of the local staff. I think they move them once the actual frame is going up.

Did you maybe mean the US Bank tower (the current tallest)? If so, it's about a half mile directly east of the Wilshire Grand site, but because the grid is oriented NW-SE, it's basically three blocks up and two blocks over, or about a 5 minute walk.

Haha yes I did, again excuse my lack of knowledge of the area, being British and never having been to Los Angeles
Anyway thank you

This tower will become a great centerpiece of the LA skyline in between the US Bank Tower, and the 777 tower balancing the skyline.

You're right. From the looks of it, there may be some concrete work going on as we speak due to the line of concrete trucks.

Agreed (great shot, by the way).

However, I do think the Ritz-Carlton building has shifted the weight of the skyline way south, so while the WG will help in that regard, I really hope we see another tall tower midway between 777 and LA Live. So far, unfortunately, all the development in that neighborhood has been pretty stumpy.

I can't wait for that epic 3 straight days (right? or some other ludicrous length of time?) of pouring to fill the "bathtub." That has to be coming up, doesn't it? I seem to recall a december pour date...

Looks to me like around 40 to 50 pilings are allready installed,(in the last photo taken) tracing a line that is most likely the tower perimeter, i've only seen this type of pile installation done downtown under the Wells Fargo Center, but for a different purpose, unrelated to the tower foundation(s) So my guess is that these piles are to stabilize the ground strata around the foundation perimeter, or actually tie in to the foundation, to further load distribution into the strata,, in any case, work on the ''actual'' foundation has allready began.
