I didn't even notice that in the overhead picture. Good catch!

Definitely looks like they're tracing the footprint of the tower. The rest of the lot will be plaza and low rise conference/commercial space.

If theyve really installed pilings, then this is under construction.

This is going to be a wonderful addition to the LA's skyline. I look forward to seeing it when its finally built. I've been following this and the Transbay Tower for a while. Though I think the Wilshire will have a bigger impact on LA. Stunning building which will be the most impressive in LA, and perhaps California....perhaps :P

Yes for sure! I hope LA will get more towers around it eventually.

Wow, gigantic bathtub. It sure looks like they're laying down cement in the upper left.

Rebar for the crane can be seen. Should have the foundation for the actual building in 2-3 weeks.

Technically, yes. But according to forum rules, it won't be moved to the construction thread until the fundation work is done.

BTW, the footprint of the tower is already clearly visible.

No, construction of the foundations is also considered construction.

Well, in the first post of +++ REQUESTS FOR MOVING THREADS +++ they said this.

U/C = Core and superstructure rising
T/O = Topped out, the tower has reached its maximum height
Com = Internally and externally complete.

In the UK forum we usually include "Prep" towers in the U/C section.
According to that, foundation work is still considered "Prep" (again, that is for the standards of this forum, technically, it is indeed part of the construction)

Countless other projects have been moved to the construction section after commencement of foundation work. Those guidelines really arent followed.

the guidelines are outdated. i myself would also be more happy to have two names for what currently is considered U/C. rising and groundwork stuff are really different phases of construction in my opinion
